I didn’t even read the package and thought this was one of those black/white pu’erh cakes that people dislike… so I brewed this at 190 and it was mild and wonderful. I’m assuming from my own taste preferences that if I brewed this at 205 I would highly dislike it since Darjeeling and black teas in generally are not my thing.

However, this was really pleasant with the spice that came from the undertones.

I think I’ve heard before that darjeelings, especially first flush, tend to be more delicate than normal black teas and you should use cooler water. I tend to stay around 185 or cooler and have had much better results.

First flush is also milder than second flush. Leans a bit toward green tea.
