3 Tasting Notes
Bai Hao Yin Zhen is part of my daily routine. I try to get at least 1 cup a day because it’s so healthy.
The notes are extremely delicate and sometimes are difficult to notice. I personally over steep this by around 30 seconds each cup just so there’s more body and the notes are more evident.
The aroma is typical Bai Hao.
All in all, it’s more or less consistent with what Bai Hao is supposed to be like. However, it’s a bit weak in comparison with other teas. Then again, it seems to me like DT is just weak in general and it’s the norm to oversteep a tad.
Preparation
I really want to like this tea. I mean, it’s great, the aroma’s an aphrodisiac, but the tea itself lacks body.
I tried brewing this tea in countless ways with no satisfactory result (other than the smell). I recently dropped in to DT to ask them if that’s normal and the wonderful employee said that he also has the same problem with the tea. Phew, so I’m not crazy. He said that Agave could help to bring out the flavor’s but I’ve already finished my 50g pack and won’t be trying it again so that’s that for this tea for me.
Weak flavor, amazing aroma. Use when bringing a girl with a delicate tongue home.
Preparation
I really think this tea is great! Perhaps that’s because I know it’s a relatively good price for Genmaicha, perhaps it’s because the tea itself is pleasing to both taste and smell.
Although it is weak in smell, it still has a flavor that is aligned with some of the better Genmaichas I have tried. It almost has a buttery smoothness going in and the traditional toasted rice after taste.
I highly recommend this tea for anyone looking into trying some green teas. It’s a steal from this cool, unique store as well.
