What’s not to like? This does not take up a lot of counter space and does exactly what it says. You can program any temperature you want to bring the water to. There are some standard presets but you can use the up/down arrows to set your own. It remembers your custom temperature, so no need to reset if you use the same one. The spout is perfect, allowing you to fill even a very small teapot. Lastly, there is a built in count up timer, so you can time your steep.

Kevin,
Can the Bonavita be used with a digital timer so that one’s tea water is ready to go at the desired temperature for that all-important first cup of get-one-going morning tea? Thanks!

Kevin

Yes it can. It has a nice built in timer so that your tea can be ready at any time you choose. I use this feature often, load up the water and tea the night before and then just transfer to a thermos as I’m heading out to work.

http://www.bonavitaworld.com/docs/BV3825V%20Callouts.pdf specifically mentions a count up timer for accurate brewing. However, it doesn’t mention timer operation. Has Bonavita updated this model? What is the model number of your Bonavita?

Kevin

Sorry, I was thinking this was the breville thread…my mistake. No this model has no timer function at all, however it pretty quick to come up to temp, especially if the kettle is not full.

No problem. Can the Bonavita be used with an external digital timer ( e.g.: http://www.intermatic.com/en/Products/Timers/PlugInTimers/Indoor_Timers/DT620.aspx) so that one’s tea water is ready to go at the desired temperature for that all-important first cup of morning tea? Thanks!

Kevin

Nope, it won’t work. Just tried it on mine. Set the temp and unplugged it. When I plugged it back in, it was shut off.
