I got a tin of this for my Mom for Christmas and we’re having a cup of it after opening presents. I also received some as a gift from a friend in teabag form. Both are excellent versions of an earl grey tea. I like that the black tea is very robust and mouth-filling and that the bergamot is balanced just right, not too overwhelming. It has a great strong earl grey flavor and is perfect with a little milk and sugar. Merry Christmas indeed!

-Standard teabag.
-Teabag smells strongly of bergamot. Tea liquor aroma is of malty bergamot.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy medium brown color.
-Bold malty flavor with a nicely balanced bergamot finish. Lingering lemony bergamot aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Excellent tea. Strong black tea base with a perfect bergamot flavor.

I loved the original cotton candy blend from 52 Teas, so I was excited to try this one as well since blueberry is one of my favorite flavors. The dry leaves are fruity and blueberry smelling. The tea liquor is a golden yellow color and the flavor is really delicate. I can definitely taste the blueberry and the light sweetness of the cotton candy comes through at the end. This one is better as it cools down. At the first sip the blueberry flavor tasted a little artificial, but this lessens as it cools down slightly. This is the perfect tea for Christmas Eve Eve!

-Dry blend has medium green rolled tea leaves. Tea leaves float to the top while steeping.
-Dry leaves smell like sugary blueberries. Tea liquor aroma is faintly of blueberries.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium yellow color.
-Slightly artificial blueberry flavor with green tea. Light sugar and berry finish.
-Best with sweetener.
-Fair tea. Very light blueberry flavor. Little cotton candy taste.

I love the cute little kitten on the label of this tea, and I smiled as I was opening the packet. The dry tea smells very strongly of lemon, almost like a creamy lemon aroma from a lemon cake. The color of this brewed tea is a pretty pale (almost clear) yellow. The flavor is very light also, with only a wispy touch of lemon present. It is much better with sweetener, which brings out some of the marshmallow flavors. Overall, a very light and delicate tea. I can imagine I would enjoy this best during the summer, as it is very refreshing.

-Dry blend has medium size green tea leaves and pieces of white marshmallow root and lemongrass.
-Dry leaves smell like lemon cake. Tea liquor aroma is faintly of creamy lemon.
-Tea liquor is a clear pale yellow color.
-Soft lemon flavor with a smooth finish.
-Best with sweetener.
-Very good tea. Delicate lemon cake flavor.

I will admit that I wasn’t terribly excited about this one when I opened it. I’m not a huge fan of honeybush, but I did get a little more interested when I smelled the tea. It’s aroma is really sweet and fruity, exactly like bubblegum. I brewed it for 6 minutes and the tea liquor smells the same as the dry blend. This tea is really flavorful – very fruity and leaves a sweet taste (again, like bubblegum) in your mouth. I think it reminds me of that zebra-striped gum that i had as a child!? This isn’t one of my most favorites, but my fiancé loved it!

-Dry blend is finely chopped honeybush with a few pieces of dried fruit.
-Dry leaves smell like fruity bubblegum. Tea liquor aroma is sweetly fruity.
-Tea liquor is a medium brown color.
-Very sweet flavor with a fruity finish.
-Sweetener optional.
-Fair tea. Slightly artificial bubblegum flavor. Very sweet without any added sweetener.

I’m a bit behind on my 12 days of tea, but I’ve been a little busy and this just means the fun will last longer! This one smells amazing when you open the package. Takes me back to going to the county fair as a child and getting a big wand of pink cotton candy. The flavor of the cotton candy really comes out once you add a little sweetener. It also becomes more flavorful as it cools. I want to try a cup of this iced!

-Dry blend has large black tea leaves, large blue cornflowers and a few orange safflowers.
-Dry leaves smell like sweet cotton candy with a hint of black tea. Tea liquor aroma is sugary sweet.
-Tea liquor is a clear golden yellow color.
-Soft cotton candy flavor with a short sweet finish.
-Best with sweetener.
-Very good tea. Smooth and lightly flavored cotton candy taste.

I saw some of the Celestial Seasonings teas while out shopping and decided to pick up two flavors after reading some of the positive reviews on Steepster. I made this tea as a to-go cup for my fiancé yesterday and he called and said that it was filling his car up with a wonderful smell. I decided to have this tea as my first cup today and it has not disappointed me! The smell is wonderful – like a cup of vanilla-nutty-sweet goodness. The flavor is yummy too; it is less sweet than it smells, but is still a tea that would be enjoyable without sugar as it is sweet enough on its own. There is a heavy marzipan-like flavor that finishes with a sweet vanilla note. This is a tea that I may need to stock up on as it would be good all year round!

-Regular teabag without a string.
-Teabag smells sweetly like vanilla icing. Tea liquor aroma is of sugar and cinnamon.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy dark brown color.
-Marzipan nutty flavor with a sweet vanilla icing finish.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. Marzipan and vanilla icing flavor.

drank Blue Ginger by Harney & Sons
358 tasting notes

I thought that this tea sounded fun, so I added a sample pack to my most recent Harney’s order. The dry leaves smell really florally-gingery. I am not the biggest fan of ginger, but I love lychee-flavored teas, so I hope that I like this. Anddd I just spilled my poor little sample packet all over the kitchen floor. :( I have just enough left to make 2 cups. Is it ok to cry over spilled tea leaves?

-Blend is made up of plain tea leaves.
-Dry leaves smell sweetly of ginger. Tea liquor aroma is more floral and of lychee.
-Tea liquor is a very dark brown color.
-Pleasant lychee flavor with hints of ginger. No bitterness.
-Best with sweetener.
-Very good tea. Sweetener brings out more of the spicy ginger flavor.

I received a little sample sachet of this in my recent Harney order, and as it is a dreary and somewhat chilly night I thought now would be the perfect time to have a little cup of something tropical. When I opened the packet I was overwhelmed by the fruity (mostly guava) smell. I was excited about this blend having coconut in it, but no coconut is detectable in the aroma, or in the flavor. The flavors that I do notice are mostly strawberry and guava. This is a read good, warming tea!

-Silken sachet.
-Sachet smells fruity, like guava, with a musky undertone. Tea liquor aroma is like strawberry jam.
-Tea liquor is a medium brown color.
-Malty fruit flavor with a light guava finish.
-Best with sweetener.
-Refreshing, heavier tropical tea with malty undertones. Lingering fruity flavor.

I’ve been wanting to try this tea since it was released. When TRoT sent an email with an unavoidable Black Friday deal I was so excited to finally purchase it! The tin is so pretty and the dry tea smells just heavenly! I made a huge cup of it tonight to enjoy while watching some Christmas specials on tv. Ohhhh it is so very delicious. The flavor is very light and delicate, but absolutely perfect! Tis the season to celebrate!

-Dry blend has golden raisins, yellow and blue petals and large dried blossoms. Wet leaves reveal full-sized flowers.
-Dry leaves smell sweetly of grape juice. Tea liquor aroma is of musky grapes.
-Tea liquor is a golden yellow color.
-Initial flavor is of grapes. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Lingering wine-like finish.
-Best with a small amount of sweetener.
-Very good tea. Delicate for a black tea. Light taste of champagne. Too much sweetener overwhelms soft flavors. Very festive!

I got sucked in by Teavana’s emails featuring this blend. And I think I saw a few reviews on here that intrigued me enough to buy the minimum 2 ounces to try it. It smells amazing in the bag but I found it to be a little weak in the cup. Now to be fair, I did make this as a latte and it is my first latte that I’ve ever made at home with my new milk frother. I was also trying to make enough for 2 cups of tea, so that could be why it’s weak. The flavor that it does has is pleasant and I will enjoy trying it as a regular cuppa, sans the latte. :)

So I finally tried this as a regular cup of tea, and I don’t know what to think. The tea is really cloudy and greasy on top, it kind of grossed me out. Without sweetener I took one sip and hated it, it was really thick and nutty tasting without any sweetness to it. With sweetener it’s better, and I can taste a little of the caramel and chocolate. I don’t really notice any sea salt flavor, but I am obsessed with salt and like a ton of it so maybe that’s why? I tried sprinkling a little sea salt on top to see if that enhanced the flavor at all, and it does bring out more of that salty-sweet flavor. I don’t know, though, I’m just not loving this tea. Being completely honest, the look of it is really throwing me off. I’m a CNA and about to go to nursing school and the color and consistency of this reminds me a little too much of a certain unnamed bodily fluid (am I allowed to say that on Steepster!?) I’m sad because I really really wanted to like this tea so much, since I have a big love of sweet/salty things. I really can’t even finish the cup, so into the swap pile it goes. :(

-Dry blend looks like a small trail mix of chocolate and nut pieces, little red berries, large coconut flakes and small yellow, orange and red petals.
-Dry blend smells salty and nutty with a hint of sweet chocolate. Tea liquor aroma is of toasty nuts.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy dark yellow color with an oily sheen on top.
-Weak nutty flavor with a light caramel chocolate finish. Faint salty aftertaste.
-Best with sweetener.
-Poor tea. Weak flavor with a thick greasy consistency.

It definitely sounds interesting, but it’s so hard to justify Teavana purchases these days when 2 oz is the minimum. Hope you get your latte right :)

Josie Jade

I agree! Teavanna is so expensive. I only got 2 ounces each of 2 different teas and the price was over $15. I usually purchase from smaller companies, but I just really wanted to try the 2 flavors I purchased. In theory they should taste amazing, but sadly in reality they smell amazing but the flavor is very weak. :(

Serenity

I found that with some of Teavana’s chai blends that they’d make better sachets for bureau drawers and linen closets as the scents were lovely but the brewed tea was weak.

Josie Jade

Not a bad idea about the drawer sachets.

momo

This one just needs something creamy in there with it to not be terrible.

Josie Jade

Hmm, I wish I wanted to go back to try that but I just have no desire to make this tea again. It was just a miss for me, I guess.

Terri HarpLady

I stopped by Teavana today. There was a conversation somewhere on steepster about black dragon pearls (from various companies), & I thought I’d stop in for some instant gratification, as in not having to wait for delivery. They were out.

Funny, this exact tea waved at me from the shelf, & for a minute I thought maybe I’d like it, but a little voice in my head (probably Ms Theresa) reminded me that I don’t usually care much for Teavana blends. I did buy myself a couple little 4 oz tea cups though, because I’m having a tea party sunday & some of my older ones are chipped on the rim. I don’t want anyone to cut their lip.

Jackie O

If you haven’t tried DAVIDsTEA salted caramel, you should :-) its definitely more salty sweet, like chocolate covered pretzels type combo.

Josie Jade

Terri, I usually don’t care too much for Teavana blends either, but their emails made this one sound so good. And there are obviously people who enjoy it, I guess I’m just not one of them! Yay for your new cups! Teavana always does have pretty tea ware!

Jackie, thanks for the tip, Salted Caramel sounds amazing!

ohfancythat

Aw. If there’s anything i have that you’d be interested in I liked that one enough to swap for it! :)

I second the recommendation for DT Salted Caramel though.

Josie Jade

I’d love to swap this one, whatshesaid! Pm’ing you :)

DesertMoon

I’ve only made this tea once, plain with a bit of their German rock sugar. I couldn’t drink it. It tasted like bad diet artificially sweetened wimpy hot chocolate. The diet-soda-y aftertaste annoyed me so much I nearly got sick to my stomach. I wanted badly to like this tea because the flavors sounded so interesting. I will try the Salted Caramel…thanks for that recommendation!

Josie Jade

desertmoon, I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t love it. I’d love to know what you think of the Salted Caramel when you try it! :)
