Light bodied, amber coloured liquor… It’s a so-so tea, not out of this world but not terrible. There is something smokey lingering, very mellow, floral, with high lotus notes.

drank Endurance by Art of Tea
19 tasting notes

Endurance is a sweet smelling pu’erh and herbal blend. It smells like sweet plum fruit, cinnamon, mild young pu’erh and herbs.

The infusion is much lighter in flavor than you’d expect from the overwhelming fragrance of the blend- which is bold, and an in-your-face- as you open the package of full bodied fruity and herbal goodness… it smells amazing! The flavor is very delicate, the wet leaves smell like a swampy-pu’erh with cinnamon. Light earthiness in the final brew, with flat tasting cinnamon (meaning that it isn’t warming like cinnamon sometimes is, nor does it have a ‘bite’ to it), with goji, and mild plum flavor.

I dig it, though it isn’t the sort of tea I would usually choose.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Earth, Plum

Lush, feminine, floral- roses are the most luxurious- pair that with an English classic and you have it!

Rosy Earl Grey is a slightly sharp black tea, bold, a tad bitter, with high rose floral notes, there is lavender in the mix but it isn’t prominent.

It is almost like a Turkish delight earl grey- It is wonderful.

drank Lemon Lavender by Teas Etc

Mild in aroma and flavor, there isn’t any bitterness or sweetness in my cup-mostly just sort of flat floral notes from the lavender. This is a good lavender black tea, nothing incredibly special about it.

drank Cardamon Tea by Ahmad Tea
19 tasting notes

As a true tea addict, I couldn’t resist buying this while browsing my local Middle Eastern market! As a huge fan of cardamom everything (green cardamom is incredible), I bought a 100 bag box before even trying it. It’s pretty straight-forward, a cardamom scented black ceylon tea in a bag- because it’s processed and fit into a bag, it has a super bold punchy flavor right away, and the cardamom is decent, it is wonderfully complementary- it does come through but not as strong as I’d like it to.

Cardamom almost has a “peppery” sharpness to it when it is a fresh pod, this bag is missing that freshness, but the overall cardamom-ness is present. This makes an excellent milk tea, but I often drink it straight.

drank Gui Hua Oolong by Tealux
19 tasting notes

“Gui Hua” is the enchanting aromatic tree that blooms multiple times in China, lovely apricot-peach floral fragrance from the tiny yellow flower is what is blended with this high quality oolong tea. Prepared in the traditional method of scenting tea, the Osmanthus (“Gui Hua” in Chinese) flowers are layered between fresh Camelia Sinensis leaves to absorb the complementary flavor. Sweet, “green”, and peachy, our Gui Hua Osmanthus Oolong is a traditional tea treat you won’t soon forget.

I love Tealyra’s (used to be Tealux) Gui Hua, it is pure, floral and sweet.

Flavors: Apricot, Osmanthus, Peach

Preparation
195 °F / 90 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

The scent of the tea itself is a classic oolong, with a strong, creamy, melted-buttery goodness. I like to brew it hot and strong, and only drink it once the leaves have all unfurled. The “milk oolong” flavor is not overpowering, it is delicate and perfectly balanced. This is a great tea.

Trader Joe’s Earl Grey is my standard quick fix daily tea, the Bergamot oil is on the stronger side and I think that is why I love it so much. It has a bold, smooth taste and isn’t bitter. Loose tea is the way to go, but this is my favorite bagged Earl Grey!

Bio

Christ follower, tea lover.

Born in Montreal, Canada- studied and lived in both California, and mainland China. I speak English, French, and Mandarin Chinese.

I drink tea, study tea, write about tea, touch tea, and work (at Tealyra!) with tea- all day. My hands are matcha-stained.

I have lived in China- and had the opportunity to drink the most incredible orthodox teas, traveled to Yunnan and browse pu’erh shops, and even made my own small batch Japanese green tea outside of Kyoto, Japan.

I think my initial love of tea is rooted in childhood memories with my Grandmama sipping honey-sweetened tisane. My appreciation for all things Camelia Sinensis has grown and matured since those fruity tisane childhood days.

Likes : Oolong (especially true milk oolong), Japanese teas, and pu’erh. I appreciate most teas and herbal infusions.

Dislikes : licorice, fennel, too-much ginger, too-much hibiscus.

Self-proclaimed lover of tea: passionate about Jesus, people, traveling, I love music, fragrance and good food.

I work for Tealyra (used to be named Tealux), I am our house Tea Sommelier. I am blessed to have access to some of the best teas in the world daily! I am a Certified Tea Sommelier through ITMA (studied tea in China, Hong Kong, and in Montreal).

You can read all my tasting notes for Tealyra on our website, I taste and write for our company.
