16 Tasting Notes
I wanted so much to drink a good vanilla tea today, so I made myself a cup of Honeybush vanilla. But yet, as I took the first sip, I remembered why I love/hate this tea….
It is a good tea if you’re looking for a sweet vanilla tea. But… I always finish my cup with a little “sickness” because I find it too sweet for me. The flavor is great, but the “honey” aftertaste is a little bit overwhelming. This is why I always struggle when I drink this tea: love the vanilla/hate the sweetness. Maybe if I blend it with something else the sugary taste will be more subtle.
Note: DO NOT add more sugar to this tea (unless you want to fell sick).
Preparation
I am used to drink the Maharaja Chai/Samurai Chai blend from Teavana but I couldn’t get used to the idea of paying 18$ for 50g of tea. This is why I started a quest of finding a chai tasting mostly the same, but at a more reasonable price.
I was not looking for a chai where the cinnamon and the cloves are overwhelming (like those tea bags you buy at the grocery store), but a more «round taste» tea where all the flavors blend together. I smelled a lot of teas, and couldn’t find one that was satisfying me by the smell…until I found Bollywood Chai! And when I tasted it, It tasted heavenly good (my nose wasn’t wrong) ;)
This chai tea is just the perfect one for me! Not too sweet and not too spicy, but still has that warmth to it. It is highly comparable to the blend from Teavana, but less sweet, which I find is a good thing!
So if you’re looking for a chai where all the spices are well blended and where you can find a little sweetness (maybe the vanilla + candied fennels?), I definitely recommend this one :)
Preparation
As always, very good and not disappointed! Perfect for my sore throat with a little bit of honey ;)Very good lemony tea. 5 minutes of steeping is a little long though and gives bitterness to the tea. From now on, I’ll steep it 2 or 3 minutes.
