96 Tasting Notes
I ordered this tea because I’d read some of the reviews on Steepster and I was so impressed that I had to give it a try!
the results??
Delicious!
I can taste the plantain the most, and that combined with the coconut smell is lovely. I’d love to have this iced with rum in the summer, I think it would make an excellent cocktail.
Preparation
So I’ve never really had just a straight, white tea before! I’ve had a few different flavoured varieties but never just the tea on its own. I probably never would have tried this tea if left to my own devices, but last night I was invited to a little seminar at the David’s Tea near my house. We tasted different teas, and talked about the benefits of tea and how different kinds are processed and blended. I really enjoyed it!
And I really enjoyed this tea! It has a sweet grassy taste—but it isn’t a bad thing! If you’ve ever had one of Jelly Belly’s Bertie Botts grass flavoured beans, you’ll know what I mean when I say it isn’t a bad taste. It reminds me a bit of honeysuckle, or clover and doesn’t need sweetener at all to be incredibly pleasant to drink!
For real. I left David’s Tea with a tin of it immediately after the tasting!
Preparation
I’ve been looking for a good white tea to try. So I’ll give this a shot when I go through my stash of Spring White Pearls.
I was actually surprised. With white tea I was always a little bit like “Man, it’s so expensive! It can’t be THAT good…OMG IT IS!”
Delicious!
This tea is light, flowery, and almost…peach-tasting! I sweetened it slightly, and I very impressed with it! I probably shouldn’t be drinking black tea at this time of night, but no matter! It’s light fruitiness makes it SEEM like something herbal, so I can pretend I’m not doing something I’m going to regret when, in a few hours, I can’t sleep.
It reminds me a little bit of Lipton’s White Tea with Mango and Peach, actually! Only, you know, 100x better, and with a lighter taste. You really can taste the flowers!
Defiantly one of my new favorites.
Preparation
Thanks for posting this — I’ve alsmot ordered Three Wishes three times now. I’ll definitely add it to my next David’s order.
Definitely worth it. I have a little line up of teas now, to help get me through NaNoWriMo and it is part of the team. :)
I drank this tea yesterday and then steeped the leaves again this morning! This tea has a spicy taste that lingers and I quite enjoy it. It’s a pretty basically chai, otherwise, but great to drink it the morning to really jump start the day!
(Especially after being out until the wee hours of the morning at a party, if you catch my drift.)
Preparation
This is a satisfying black tea, but not a satisfying Earl Grey. It lacks the necessary bergamot kick. In fact, I can’t taste it at all…and I am a bergamot addict. I would suck bergamot oil from a dirty sock.
However! This tea wins back my heart just for being such a smooth tasty black tea. I recommend it highly as a breakfast/daily/morning/basic black because it’s incredibly easy to drink.
So, though I normally rank disappointing Earl Greys quite low, I find this one has a charm to it on its own merits.
Preparation
This tea is HARDCORE!
I’m addicted to Bergamot! My favorite tea is probably Earl Grey, and in a few of my reviews I have complained when certain blends of Earl Grey pussy out on the Bergamot content. This tea makes up for all of that!
It’s pretty much the only tea I keep in my desk at work now. It’s delicious, has a nice strong flavour and it really helps me get through the good ole’ nine-to-fiver.
Preparation
Well, my first encounter with smoky tea, was Mr. Morgan’s tea (http://steepster.com/teas/the-pierpoint-morgan-library/15626-mr-morgans-tea) and if you take a look at my review, you’ll know that it wasn’t a good one.
I went to David’s Tea to talk to one of the girls about Mr. Morgan’s tea and the fact it smelled like cigars and she suggested I try this one. So, although I was a bit worried that I just didn’t have a thing for this kind of tea, I thought I’d give it a shot.
It’s definitely different! If you like smoky teas I recommend it. I let it steep for quite a while (totally forgot about it) but the tea didn’t become too bitter or strong! The flavour lasts though, and the smell reminds me of a fireplace—which makes me feel warmer!
A good thing since I’m about to start facing down a Canadian winter!
Preparation
Must try, but I have about 200g of a favoured lapsang souchong already on hand. A good lapsang is incredible.
It feels like a tea that I would be terrified to mess up if I was making it. One false move and you’ve made ashtray water!
And God help you if the tea is inferior. I once bought a box of Taylors of Harrogate’s lapsang souchong teabags … euh. Like drinking out of an ashtray. Especially disappointing as I’d just convinced a relucant friend to try lapsang souchong, and that was her introduction. ToH’s loose lapsang has never let me down, though. My current stash comes from that local teashop I keep mentioning, Britannia Teas on Water Street, St John’s. If you’re ever in St John’s, get yourself to Britannia.
