Third Place in the 2009 Austin Oolong Taste Competition
A recent strain of tea, created in 1980 by Zhen Zhe Wu to boost the Taiwanese tea economy. Quickly, what is known here as Jade Oolong, this tea has become very popular in Taiwan and Europe. And rightly so.
It has a nice bright, floral character with an incredibly long sweet finish. Slightly nutty upfront, very floral, buttery, and smooth. The color of the tea liquor is indeed jade-like and richly aromatic. This is a year-round favorite here, enjoyed by the connoisseurs and novices alike.
One of our Artisan Reserve oolong teas, a line of small batch handmade teas from a craft handed down over generations. Hand selected for having all the hallmark qualities of the highest grades with noteable personality accents. 20-25% oxidized.
This tea was grown at 600 meters, harvested in March of 2009, and is stored in a vacuum seal. This particular batch exceeds all expectations in color, cup, aroma, steep, and leaf quality. Lightly roasted and perfectly sweet, this oolong reveals itself over several steepings. Hand crafted and grown organically in Taiwan and certified MOA.
