From Yunnan Sourcing

This is a general production from Menghai area that was intended for export to Taiwan but the balance was never paid and the tea sat in a Kunming warehouse for close to a decade before it was purchased by a friend of ours.

Opens very slowly, and never quite completely in my brewing equipment. A mild tea, with some complexity developing during later (7+) steeps. Has a ‘dusty,’ aged taste, but nothing overwhelming. Pleasant – but for me, not enough so to be worth the relatively high price. Brewed in zi ni, it’s somewhat reminiscent of the (much less expensive) 2015 Gao Jia Shan “Cha Duo Tang” Wild Harvested Hunan Fu Brick Tea, which is one of my favourite teas, but milder.

Bummer this one didn’t open up well for you. I found it quite the treat. Looking at my note, I brewed this in a tall Taiwanese clay pot with an amount of tea that would normally produce a weak brew in that pot.

Maybe the pot I used was too small – I’ll have to try it in a larger pot.

Elegant, refined and powerful shou that I brewed quickly (~20s) for many steeps. Chinese medicine aroma, complex leather-dominant taste, wonderful smooth and lubricating mouthfeel, mouth-watering, bit of spicy tingle and camphor. Qi hits quickly with droopy orange gaze, warmth and relaxation before the chest punch of what feels like Bulang energy kicks in. And oh my is the color of the brew beautiful, like mahogany tinted with that orange-pink color often called coral.

This is an awesome shou, one of the best I’ve had. Thanks, Togo.

This is a great tea with complex aromas, awesome mouthfeel, and a balanced taste. The aroma is cooling, floral, and sweet with notes of leather, old books, jiaogulan, honey, and urine. Taste is slightly sour and bitter with a tannic finish. Flavours include those of fenugreek, coriander seeds, and camphor, complemented by wood, peat, and molasses after swallowing. It is a long-lasting, metallic, and spicy aftertaste that induces a warming sensation. The liquor texture is extremely soft, lubricating, and mouth-watering – very nice.
