We’ve tasted literally of dozens of cha tou in the first half of 2018. Many were good, but these were the best we had that weren’t hyper old and expensive. These are made from spring 2015 harvested Bu Lang Mountain (Menghai County of Xishuangbanna) tea that was wet piled in Menghai in the summer of 2015. I normally love YS ripe teas, but this one was terrible. I could have had a bad batch of course, but it tasted like dirty cardboard. Yuck.

Those are 2018 right? Maybe they need some time to settle

Yes, they are. But the flavor was really bad. It was not fermentation funk, it was just plain bad.

These were actually produced in 2015. Yunnan Sourcing also currently stocks a 2018 version.

Yes, thanks for that, very confusing with the years. This is the 2015 version so newness is not the issue. Probably just a bad batch compared to what Scott tasted, or a bad bit within the batch.
