From Yunnan Sourcing

This is a special varietal of Purple “Ye Sheng” Wild Tree Tea. It literally grows wild and this “sweet” sub-type is the most rare of all. It took 3 people 15 days to collect and process just 15 kilograms of this incredibly unique tea.

The processing is very simple and involves brief withering and hot dry air exposure to halt the oxidation. The resulting tea is incredibly unique and is like a floral bouquet drenched in watermelon juice. The floral character is something like rose both in taste and smell. This tea is totally unlike any other tea I have ever tried, and not only is it unique but it’s very complex and goes many many steeps.

Decent-ish tea. I got the 2022 harvest of this tea from my recent YS order as a BOGO offer, and it’s nice but not amazing. Nice leaves with a rich wet leaf aroma and a beautiful liquor that changes from pale yellow to vibrant orange depending on the steep parameters. Flavour is decent, mix of fruits and florals and delicate notes on top. Texture is smooth and juicy, with a very wide steep variability depending on the steep parameters, ranging from delicate pine notes to stronger grassy straw notes. Finish & aftertaste is decent as well, with a nice lingering juiciness at the back. Cha-qi is almost non-existent, and steep longevity is average, with the tea lasting till about steep 10.
