From Yogi Tea

Get Regular tea is a delicious way to help you get regular. This herbal formula begins with Organic Senna Leaf, which has been used for centuries as an herb that can help provide natural relief for occasional constipation. To help balance the effects of senna, we add Anise, Cardamom and Ginger, and “triphala,” a blend of Amalaki, Bibhitaki and Haritaki fruits, which have been used in Ayurveda to help support the eliminative functions. So when your body needs a little assistance, brew a cup of Get Regular and get things moving naturally.*

To get the most out of every cup, bring water to boiling and steep 5 to 10 minutes. For best results, drink 1 cup before bedtime. A comfortable bowel movement is usually produced in 6 to 8 hours. Do not use in excess of 4 cups in 24 hours or for longer than 10 days.*

Ingredients: Organic Senna Leaf, Organic Peppermint Leaf, Organic Anise Seed, Stevia Leaf, Organic Dandelion Root, Yellow Dock Root, Organic Licorice Root, Celery Seed, Organic Coriander Seed, Organic Cinnamon Bark, Organic Amla Fruit (Amalaki), Organic Belleric Myrobalan Fruit (Bibhitaki), Organic Chebulic Myrobalan Fruit (Haritaki), Cardamom Seed, Organic Ginger Root, Organic Clove Bud, Organic Black Pepper, Organic Orange Flavor, Natural Cinnamon Bark Oil, Natural Cardamom Seed Oil, Natural Ginger Root Oil

My husband really loves these Yogi teas, but so far I haven’t been much of a fan. We have several different varieties and since I made a silent promise to myself to try each of our teas at least once, I am finally breaking down and making myself a cup of this one. To make it sound a little more pleasant, I’m going to refer to this one as a detox tea, which I guess is essentially what it is. No worries – I don’t plan on going into detail here about its “detoxing” qualities, but I do want to comment on the flavor should anyone else want to try it at some point.

The color of the steeped tea is deep red with a green ring around the edge much like some of the Echinacea teas I’ve tried recently. I’m not sure what causes this, but it seems to happen often with the natural blends we have. This has many ingredients, possibly the tea in our cupboard with the most, but it smells mostly of mint. I hope that the licorice (which I know is in this mix because it’s in every Yogi tea) isn’t as offensive as usual. It’s just too much for me most times.

Thankfully, the taste is mostly mint as well. There’s a bit of spiciness on the end of the sip that could come from any of the several spices in this blend. There is also a slight bitter quality that mixes with the spice, as well as something herbaceous. Honestly, this is the best tasting Yogi tea I’ve come across. If it didn’t have the senna leaf, I could see myself drinking this often at night for a nice, minty bedtime tea.

This tea works well. I think its equivalent to Smooth Move, if not a little better. This is a great natural way to help w/ constipation. Its also a great tea to begin a cleanse or fast and if you’re in need of a detox. I think this works best when you drink a glass of water an hour after drinking the tea. Go to sleep, and you should have ‘success’ in the morning, LOL. If not drink 2 more cups within the next 24 hours. This does not cause cramping either. The taste is fine, I squeezed lemon juice in mine.

So besides the obvious reasons for me trying out this tea…ahem…I was pleasantly surprised with the taste! I was a little afraid of the cardamom (don’t really enjoy the flavor), but it wasn’t too strong. A little licorice flavored, but over all it was a really nice blend. Great for bedtime!
