Gongfu!
Wow, this was one heckin’ fruity tasting raw pu’erh. I mean, absolutely vibrant and full of life with an explosion of tangy citrus and stonefruit. Lemon sherbet, yuzu peels, fresh nectarines, peachy gummies, and even a little tamarind. It honestly had pretty good longevity, too; I think I ended up with about seven or eight very solid infusions before I started seeing some significant flavour loss.
When I bought this tea sample I think it was pretty reasonably priced for a sheng that already had some years of age on it. Now that it’s only the closer side of being a decade old I shudder to think what a cake might cost me today. Gonna have to find a balance between savoring my last session or two and making sure I finish it off while it’s still such a fruit bomb!
