This is a sheng pu-erh that brews bright golden with a smooth and deep flavour. The initial taste of the tea is mild does not make a strong impression. Gradually, the tea body swells in the mouth from the throat, inducing saliva and leaving a crystal sugar taste. This tea is very supple; the depth is unlike any other, the liquor leaves a feeling of warmth in the stomach as it goes down. A unique characteristic of this tea is that it has a stronger caramelized sugar taste when cooled, while most others would taste bitter.

Located in Shuangjiang County in Yunnan province, Bingdao is a village renowned in the Yunnan tea industry. Bingdao is the Dai language pronunciation of the name of the village and can be pronounced as “Biandao” as well. The ancient Dai minorities used to govern this area, and had been planting tea trees since the 14th century. Seeds and tea from the trees in this village were used as treasured gifts and tributes for diplomatic purposes. It was often consumed only by royalties or high officials in the past. Nowadays it is widely sought after and considered a privilege to own this tea. The high price point of this tea is due to the high demand and extremely limited supply. There are only 16.4 acres (0.067 km sq) of ancient tea garden left in Bingdao.
