A great second flush Darjeeling from Castleton tea estate; regarded as one the best estates in Darjeeling. An incredibly smooth tea with no astringency and distinct muscatel flavour.
Tasting Notes:
- Very smooth with no astringency
- Muscatel taste with slight sweetness
Origin: Castleton Tea Estate, Darjeeling
Brewing Advice:
- Heat water to roughly 90°C/194°F
- Use 1-2 teaspoons per cup/small teapot
- Brew for 3-4 minutes
- Always remove the leaves from the water once the tea has brewed
- Re-use the leaves multiple times and increase steeping time with each subsequent infusion
- Best without milk

DARJEELING TEA LOVERSThough knowing of Darjeeling’s grape-y flavor profile theoretically, I didn’t expect my first sip into this cup to immediately bring up the word ‘grape juice’ in my mind. Further sips reveal a beautiful woody oakiness underneath the tart grape flavor.
I now see never having bothered with Darjeeling (after my first unsuccessful attempt with bagged Darjeeling) was a huge oversight in my tea existence. I can’t wait to get to know this tea better through the five different estate samples from What-Cha.
Flavors: Grapes, Muscatel, Oak, Wood

I’m drinking both the 1st and 2nd flushes from Castleton this morning. 1st flush is very green and floral, 2nd flush is darker (though still not dark enough that I would feel inclined to add milk) and has a richer, deeper flavour. I’m mostly just sitting here, sipping, thinking “ok, I guess this is that muscatel flavour I keep hearing about”. Tastes like tea. ;)
