From Trader Nicks Tea Company

This tea is a star in its own right. Silky smooth flavors of cranberry and pomegranate, with a touch of elegant vanilla. Delicious hot or iced

Tasting Notes: raspberry | pomegranate | vanilla

Hollywood, 1939. Amid the glitz and the glitter of a bustling young movie town at the height of its golden age there was a beacon for the show business elite. That beacon is our Glitz & Glitter tea blend! This tea is a star in its own right. Silky smooth flavors of cranberry and pomegranate, with a touch of elegant vanilla. This blend also really glitters with shimmering sugar sprinkles that add a touch of sweetness and a dazzling display reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour.

When you open the bag you can easily see the colors of one of our favorite attractions that serves as the inspiration. Enjoy as is, or add a splash of booze for an elevated affair. Makes a perfect morning tea with a decent amount of caffeine, or try it iced and let the fruit flavors really come through.

To best see the glitter in your cup, shine a light on it to see it sparkle.

Ingredients: black tea, vanilla, flavor, cranberry slices, raspberry pieces, pomegranate arils, peony petals, calendula petals, gold sparkling sugar

Eh.

I feel like, based on the description and ingredients list, this blend is supposed to subtly shimmer when steeped in a similar way to teas like DT’s Glitter & Gold. However, I really couldn’t see anything sparkly in both the dry leaf or steeped tea. Not the biggest deal for me personally, but seems like that’s the whole gimmick of the blend so I wanted to make sure to point it out for people who do care.

Taste wise, this was… fine? When I saw it was pomegranate and cranberry I thought that at best this would be either sweet and grenadine like or jammy with a pleasant cranberry tartness and, at worst, it would probably taste like generic red fruit. Well, it’s got a lovely brisk black tea base but the combo of red fruits in the blend is very medicinal tasting to me. Especially in the finish/aftertaste. I will for sure have to play around with my steeping next time to see if I can make a better brew.

I’ve found the same when I got the small pouch but when I got the 50g pouch I had lots of glitter. It also depended on the steeping method for me.

Free sample from my June subscription.

Not a huge fan of this, it has a very syrupy red fruits flavor to it, and then to add vanilla on top of it is just too cloying for me. It definitely reminds me of some French-style “red fruits” teas. I feel like it’s reminding me of a specific tea, but I can’t place which one at the moment…

Anyway, not a fan but always appreciate free samples. :)
