Ughhhh sore throat alert! I dug this one out of my tea chest to help ward off impending sickness. This is pretty much the ONLY fruity rooibos I actually like. I steeped this perfectly tonight, too. It tastes just like cranberry juice, without the ridiculous amounts of sugar. It steeps a beautiful deep red and it smells heavenly dry. A little bit goes a long way, and don’t exceed 2 minutes for steep time though, or it will be really really tart.

Backlog:

This is a tasty tisane … although I have to admit that I was a little surprised by it. By the name of it, I expected there to be some warming sort of ingredient in it like chili pepper or ginger … but no. It is smooth and sweet and not at all peppery or spicy.

There is a nice balance between tart and sweet here … not so tart that I puckered, but, enough tart to keep it from tasting too overwhelmingly sweet.

Enjoyable … makes a really great iced tea! Here’s my full-length review of it: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/03/23/fireberry-tisane-from-tiesta-tea/

There are a lot of fruit medley-type blends out there. Many skimp on the berry and up the hibiscus quotient to disguise this fact. The result is usually something overly tart. Fireberry is as the name implies – berry juice that’s been lit on fire. Quite refreshing, sweetens well, and probably ices well, too. Light years ahead of Tiesta’s other fruit tisane, Granny’s Garden.

The aroma is somewhat slight as it steeps. Perhaps my water wasn’t hot enough. Fascinating, I can see why they call it fireberry. It gives off notes of campfire smoke but don’t worry they aren’t strong like a lapsang. This is a mind-boggling tea. The smoky notes then turn into cranberry and hibiscus notes with elderberry swirling around them. The rooibos isn’t as strong as I thought it would be but it shows its face occasionally with earthy and sweet cookie notes.

It was recently my turn with the latest Reddit TTB, and this was one of the teas I tried. It’s pretty tart and low quality. It’s just sour generic fruit. I wouldn’t want it again.

A very fruity, sweet, ‘red’ tisane, with some tartness. Pretty nice. The liquor is very dark and almost more like a juice than a tisane. You can definitely taste the currants in this one.

This tea is flavorful and absolutely delicious. It’s a great afternoon tea when you don’t want caffeine but want something to put pep in your step—the flavor is that good. I love this one!

Sipdown (343)!

This isn’t really a sipdown I’m upset about, like at all. In fact I feel pretty accomplished having now finished off 50g of this – a tea that on the whole I really didn’t like. I just ordered some new rooibos blends as well, so out with the old and in with the new!

It’s a very, very tart hot brew with really sour hibiscus notes and then undertones of equally tart/sour and acidic cranberry and currant. The only reason I’m not totally against it is because it’s Thanksgiving and the cranberry notes actually feel really on point/fitting for the holiday. Like cranberry jelly, without the sweetness. That, and the bright red liquor looks REALLY pretty in the new glass ghost Nordic I picked up from DT’s new Halloween collection this year. This is the first tea I’m trying in it, and the while ghost outlines really pop against the dark crimson liquor.

But yeah – glad to be done with this one.

You should be very proud of finishing teas that you do not like. You have saved the rest of us!

You could always go around trying to convince people you’re drinking blood from your Halloween-themed glass. ;D

I’m not sure if I’m steeping this wrong.. but to me it tastes like red wine! I can only enjoy this tea when it’s mixed with lemonade or any sweet drink.
