TURZUM SFTGFOP1 HIMALAYAN MYSTIC (DJ-31)
CERTIFIED ORGANIC | TEA SEASON: DARJEELING SECOND FLUSH 2013

Turzum and Sungma under the supervision of Mr. Jha, the Superintendent have emerged as one of the best Darjeeling Tea producing tea gardens. Lying just beside a small village area known as Pokhriabong, Turzum is most of the time covered in mist and fog with ample amount of rainfall. It falls under the category of tea gardens having higher altitudes. Normally due to its higher altitude, they tend to flush slower than the lower elevation tea gardens. Turzum mostly comprises of clonal bushes and most of the invoices processed are clonal varieties. Mr. Jha has excelled both in its overall structure of the tea garden and the quality of teas produced. During the 2012 Second Flush, we couldn’t resist buying Himalayan Mystic from Turzum – one of the best Second Flush Darjeeling Teas we tasted. This year too we got some Himalayan Mystic with different invoices to taste, we liked this particular ‘DJ 31’ invoice. Other versions or invoices of this tea was equally good, just a few minor characteristics lacking in them made us choose this one. Hope you will like this tea.
Turzum Himalayan Mystic Dry Leaves:

The leaf structure is more wiry and thinner in shape. Its well rolled, twisted and sorted. The leaf appearance, here color, comprises of an overall chocolate brown with a mix of other shades of brown. There are abundance of tips or buds and most of the tea leaves are clad in those downy hairs giving it a definite luster. The tips or buds are a mixture of both silver and golden tips. Made from pure clonal tea leaves, it has a marvelous chocolatey aroma which is also sweet like honey. It is also fruity like ripe apples and somewhat orangey as well. Some nuttiness can also be found.
Turzum Himalayan Mystic Infusion or Wet Leaves:

The wet leaves of this Darjeeling Second Flush 2013 Turzum Himalayan Mystic turns into a coppery infusion. The tips or buds are easily visible and distinguishable as they end in a pointed needle shaped shape. It has a sweet, honey toned nose with a complex layer of different fruity notes. Slight hints of nutty character as that of almonds cannot be discarded here.

Turzum Himalayan Mystic Cup or Liqour:

This Turzum Darjeeling Second Flush has a bright reddish brew similar to the range of Arya teas such as Ruby. It has a quality cup with a definite brisk character denoting a good quality tea arisen from proper manufacture. The most desirable Second Flush flavor depicting Darjeelings is present which is reminiscent of the teas grown at high altitudes such as Turzum Tea Estate. It has a well rounded cup which is mellow. It has a sweet taste which has complex undertones of fruity flavor similar to that of oranges and apples. The muscatel flavor comes packed with a certain degree of sweetness and this also forms the aftertaste for this tea.
