The tradition of pressing black tea into various forms and shapes dates back to the early Song Dynasty, 960-1279 B.C. Sculptors and artisans would work with tea the way others worked with clay or textiles to form delicate works of art. This tea was too smoky for my taste. That being said, if you like that kind of tea, they’re great for individual servings of tea – I imagine they’d be great to use at an office, where having a full compliment of equipment for brewing tea is difficult.
