WOW! The first Republic of Tea that rates a 100 score from me. I am surprised at how much I love this tea. Double Green Matcha Tea has the best of both worlds the grassy, vegetal taste of Matcha [which is an ingredient anyway] with the bright astringency of Chinese green tea which is also an ingredient. I have to say that the Matcha in this blend seems to taste a little fresher than the single batch of Matcha I purchased before.

The aroma consists of both types of tea, clean, fresh, grassy, vegetal and bright.

The color is not as bright as whisking up Matcha alone, it’s a little brownish-green, not too off-putting, it is more like a darker jade but not as green. To be honest, I think the coloring is due to the addition of the Chinese green tea, the cuppa is more of that color with the Matcha powder as a little enhancement…still drinkable.

The aftertaste is really nice. This tea taste lingers on the palate with the effect of wanting more.

This tea is quite delicious and I would highly recommend this one.

The whole idea of this is just beyond me. If I wanted something like this I think I’d just steep some green tea then add some matcha to it… I dunno… I just can’t get over it…

Nice concept for a bagged green tea. When you open the jar you will find matcha powder dusted over all the tea bags, which is a pleasant experience and smells great. The matcha tastes great too.
However the leaves are cut and thus the strength is rather weak. This is a bit of disappointment and makes the taste experience underwhelming. I find myself wanting a stronger green.
Steep it for at least three minutes for a stronger flavor.

While the flavor was decent, the aroma was a bit fishy. More than a “seaweed” aroma, just fishy. Not bad but not great.

It tastes like grass, but good grass. The best grass I’ve ever tasted? Grass that has never been stepped on, and each day a light sprinkle of rain douses each blade, and the wind picks them up and lays them gently in your cup. Add a dash of honey. JUST enough to taste a subtle difference and it’s tasty to the max. Great Matcha taste in a tea bag from!

This is a cool idea for bagging a matcha. Sencha is the leaf base of this tea, with the powder diffusing in the smaller pores of the biodegradable bag. I really don’t need to describe this tea in detail if you know what a Sencha and a Matcha taste like. If you don’t, it’s clean, green, grassy, and sea mist goodness. Matcha is probably one of the healthiest drinks out there without sugar and cream added, and you can definitely drink this one without those additives. It comes very close to Aiya’s ceremonial matcha in terms of taste, but only lighter and not quite as fresh though still good quality matcha.

I’d highly recommend this tea if you want to try Matcha, Sencha, or are looking to budget for a matcha if you can’t find a close, cheaper Asian market. Though 13 bucks may seem hefty, you are getting 50 tea bags out of it-A LOT OF TEA.

One mistake on the tea base: on my sample of the tin, it says that the leaf base is Sencha. Online, it says China Green tea, so I’d maybe assume it’s a Dragonwell. Nevertheless, the taste is closer to a Sencha.
