I always skipped this one when ordering because I don’t love coconut, but I received it as a free sample in my last order. Ha the sales tactic worked because I now intend to order some! The flavor is so desserty. I taste coconut, but in a delightful, almost cupcake frosting sort of way. I don’t think macaroon specifically, but this is very tasty and well executed.

Per my SO’s request, I made a honey oatmilk latte.

Preparation: Western/latte

Tasting note:
John initially told me he thought it tasted like a sugar cookie which I agree. When made as a latte the coconut, marizpan and yogurt pieces really give this a sugary creamy cookie sort of feel and the pineapple brightens the blend up.

Flavors: Cookie, Marzipan, Pineapple, Sugar, Yogurt

#tiffanys2021sipdown Tea #108 overall / Tea #24 for March / #drinkwhatyou own slot Jan or Feb ?/25

Fri 3/19/21? (WRITTEN 3/21/21) — The NecessiTeas Coconut Macaroon. So, I really enjoy DT Coconut Macaroon, which is a tea I haven’t had in years as I’ve been sipping other teas and I have some on the way (B2G1) but I remembered I had this in my #drinkwhatyouown bag from previous months I hadn’t finished yet. I brewed the entire sample packet in hot water in my trusty DT tumbler but ended up drinking it cold. It has a nice taste but seems a little.. not watery, but thin? I don’t know how to describe it.. perhaps it was just user error. &shrug& I’d like to get a bag of this in my next order (which won’t be anytime soon, so much tea in my stash + so many other companies I want to try or re-order from) or get a sample again from a tea friend.

Cold Brew Sipdown (889)!

This was a weird one for me – I do typically like coconut a lot when cold brewed, which is why I chose to finish this tea using this method, but it didn’t translate exactly as anticipated? The flavour was simultaneously VERY sweet with creamy and toasted coconut notes a plenty, but also very thin feeling at the same time!? Aside from the coconut, there was a clear almond/marzipan flavour that I thought worked quite nicely chilled. The weirdest element was this bright fruity note, that reminded me a little bit of the taste of steeped out apple but also a touch of pineapple – and that kind of forced a “pina colada” feeling into this blend that just doesn’t feel like it should be there. If I’m gonna have Pina Colada, I want it to be sweet and creamy – not toasty and nutty. So that’s really where the disconnect came from…

Still okay overall (and definitely NOT a bad blend) – but this one isn’t something I want to have around, and it just doesn’t completely mesh with my idea of what a coconut macaroon tea should taste like. Though, there’s still some overlap.
