From The Jasmine Pearl Tea Company

Jasmine Harmony tea is a heady blend of jasmine green tea, lavender blossoms, roasted hojicha and lemon myrtle. Aromatic floral notes are accented with herbaceous and slightly camphoric flavors. Makes an excellent iced tea.

TTB. IF I said the butter had a buttery taste. You’d probably squint your eyes at me and say… ‘well.. yeah’. That is how I feel when I read their ingredient blend on the front of the label. Saying Roasted Hojicha is redundant. Just like chai tea or matcha tea. “houji” (焙じ), meaning “roasted,” and “cha” (茶), meaning "tea. Of course, for those who don’t know it’s easy to put that in front but now you know =D

Dry Aroma: Lemon myrtle. Lemon candy. Minty. Hints of lavender.
Flavor: Lemony, Bits of lavender. A bit bitter. Medicinal.

This is quite a unique mix of ingredients. Blending is an art. While it seems like it would be easy to just throw stuff in, there is a lot more that goes into it, and you can tell when someone has really thought things through.

Ooohhh, snap! I recently ranted elsewhere at a company hawking their “ghee butter” as a high-end product!

Why yes, I did think that The Jasmine Pearl Tea Co. might be a store that specializes in jasmine-based blends. It is not! It’s a generalist store that makes their own blends.
I’m really torn about this one. I don’t hate it but I do think that the balance is a bit off. It’s extremely lavender-heavy, almost to a soapy extent. Somewhere under all that lavender is a floral jasmine, with a hint of lemon at the end of the sip. I’m not picking up on the hojicha at all. If this blend wasn’t so heavy-handed with the lavender I’d probably keep it. Alas.

Someone else in the house just made a cup of this and had me take a few sips. I hate it. I get some green tea and lemongrass, but there was a weird flatness accompanied by something bitter and something unknown. It was gross. The cup was dumped, the tea removed from the cupboard and my mouth washed out. Not into it.

So, not a harmony I guess

More like Jasmine Cacophony Lavender.

I read the name of this as “jasmine honey lavender green” and thought “hey that sounds tasty!” Oh how wrong I was, apparently!
