Based on an old Chinese recipe, this oolong was once reserved for the imperial court in China. It was used to help stay sharp, balance the energy in the body, and maintain a good voice. It is quite possibly the perfect cup for the entertainers, or politicians!
Blending oolong infused with ginseng powder, with the sweet osmanthus flowers, the rustic ginseng flower and a touch of jasmine buds to round off the palette, Imperial Oolong will leave you a licorice like sweet aftertaste that is most memorable.
In Asia, oolong was particularly popular amongst people that wanted to be in better shape and have better skin. Many also love oolong for its “layers” of flavours as the leaves unfurls and Imperial Oolong is a a great example of this layering of flavours and aroma.

Trying this for the second time. The weird sort-of licorice aftertaste isn’t as pronounced this time, which is good, though I still don’t enjoy the way it lingers so long and makes my lips tingle. It almost feels like a mild allergic reaction, except that I’m not allergic to any of the ingredients. This really isn’t a tea I’d want to steep for long. The stronger it is, the less I like it. This tea and I are not a good fit.
