i don’t know exactly why i was so excited to try this one from the TTB.
but i like it in the way i thought i would. sunny. lemons are sunny ya know!
maybe it’s because celestial seasonings lemon is a tea that almost every non-tea drinker has in their cupboard. so it’s a tea for my teenage years. or maybe it’s cuz lemon and honey is what you add to basic teas anyways, but i never think of lemon teas these days.
so it’s nice to have this one dropped into my lap and realize i could search out a rich and deep lemon tea. one with real personality. this might not be it. but it was very good! and i’m gonna do a second steep of my little teaspoon worth for sure. right now.

somewhat related, i’m pretty sure i am getting a slow motion sunburn from walking to and from work.
and sunblock just sweats right off me. i’m a super sweater! not exaggerating. i always have extra shirts with me. is that gross? idk whatevs.

also DOMA was deemed unconstitutional! yay!
“A great win not just for the gay community, it’s a great win for the American tradition of equal justice under the law,”
and i now suspect i will be reading a lot of fanfiction that includes this in my foreseeable future. (as a person who never wants to marry, fics that end in marrying tend to make me squirm a little, but i get over it quickly. there is always the next feelsey story to read!)

i think this song is happy! let’s listen to it!

LOL! “slow motion sunburn”
I got one yesterday walking to work, the unfortunate part was that I was wearing “TOMS” shoe and capri pants. Hello awkward tan lines.
I have a wedding to go this summer which means I’m going to have to get a spray tan and spray I don’t end up looking like Snooki.

Shmiracles

haha i ALWAYS have zany tan lines. i usually get one all over sunburn early on and then have strange lines evermore. i’m a burner, not a tanner, i’m sure you can tell. also. freckles.
i’ve never gotten a spray tan. but if you do end up like snooki just be sure to accessorize!

BoxerMama

LOL! I tan and burn and peel. I had gotten a bad burn a few years back and it took two solid years for the bra strap outlines to fade off my skin. My husband can walk passed a light bulb and end up with a perfect tan. he’s the worst.

Shmiracles

HAHAHAH my sister is the same! blonder and bluer eyed and always a warm caramel tan with ease. she is also the worst!
meanwhile i’m peeling and itchy and freckled and greasy from sunblock. sheesh.

BoxerMama

Life just isn’t fair. . . Unless you’re blonde hair, blue eyed and have a perfect tan.

Shelley_Lorraine

Eewwww sun! evil wicked sun. If I ever jog outside, it has to be at 6am, but I usually go to an indoor track (I really hate the sun that much!) Thanks to Italian and Spanish and Basque ancestry, I have a natural tannish look, but I sometimes wish I was more pale to look better in my goth outfits. . .grass is always greener somewhere.

And hey now, how does it make sense that marriage stories make you squirm yet you are so happy for gay marriage rights? Sounds like a real life happy marriage story waiting to happen to me. haha. I am all for free love or marriage for anyone, but my personal fantasies and book interests are embarrassingly traditional. Princesses, knights in shining armor, happy endings and marriage. I was so upset when I thought Jane Eyre wasn’t going to marry part way through the book. But my traditional dreams end there, no kids for me! lol.

Starfevre

So far this morning, I’ve read one Steve/Tony DOMA fic and one #StandWithWendy fic. First time I’ve ever read things sorted by Date Updated.

Shmiracles

haha Starfevre! THAT’S what i’m talkin about! so cute. all the peeps.

OMGsrsly

Shmiracles, I find that the “baby” sunscreens with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide last better on my sweaty self. Just be careful to not get one that’s super greasy. Aveeno is OK, but I have a tinted one from Paula’s Choice for my face that works wonders. I work in a tropical room part of the time, and it lasts!

Shmiracles

OMGsrsly, I’ve just googled Paula’s Choice. thank you!!

OMGsrsly

Just remember to pat the face dry, don’t rub. :D I wear that one hiking, cycling, “running”, etc. I figure if I’m washing off colour at the end of the day, it’s gotta be good!

This is from my Fire Sale box from Rachel (iHeartTeas). I’ve been looking for a good, cheap, everyday lemon blend for a while: the bf and I both love citrus, but most of the current blends we have are either variations of earl greys, grapefruit (which he hates), or lemon teas with green bases which require cooling off the water. After dinner I’m always a little lazy and don’t want to get into complicated brewing, so it’s nice to have a few simple standards.

Well, this is definitely a contender for an everyday lemon tea! The base is smooth and mild, but with enough body to stand up on its own. There’s a hint of maltiness, and I’d hazard to guess that it’s a Ceylon base. It’s nice when the “tea” part of a flavored blend is strong enough that you can distinguish specific qualities in it! The lemon is nice, also mild, not overpoweringly citrus but with a bright and vibrant taste. This is nothing special or complicated, but it’s pretty damn tasty.

This reminds me of restaurant iced tea. It’s less gross when it’s cold. And you know how always it’s never actually cold so all the ice you put in there really doesn’t last…that’s what it tastes like warm.

Cold now, it’s just still not very drinkable for me. I just can’t stand how it’s just flat. The lemon just smells fake even though it says it’s lemon oil…it just ugh. Moving on.

Special Thanks to Muppetlove!

This one is ‘ok’ but not overly awesome either. It’s a mellower black tea with a muted lemon flavor. The lemon flavor isn’t overly flavorful or what I would consider ‘true’ eventho I can see the lemon pieces in there.

It IS better iced…I actually prefer it iced to hot in this case.

I’m glad I got to try this!!! Thanks again :)

Backlog:

A really refreshing lemon-flavored black tea. I like that it is more a sweet lemon note than a tart one. No puckering! Sort of reminiscent of a lemon-curd kind of taste. YUM!

The black tea base is even-tempered and somewhat mellow. Probably a Ceylon.

Very tasty.

I also received this from Iheartteas sale. I’m not sure I love lemony teas, but this one isn’t that lemony. It has a nice black tea base and a mild lemon flavor. I really liked the Assam I had the other day from TeaGschwendner better. There isn’t even really much to say about this one. I’m not sure if ceylon teas are for me, this one seems really bitter.

I appreciate the sample Rachel (iHeartTeas) ! Thank you! This is a good tea! Tastes like a great version of lemon lipton tea. Very delicious and not bitter! I like the black tea base as well. This is a smooth tea and very simple to make. My husband and I enjoyed it :) Great with honey and lemon!

Put several teas in a pile this morning and picked with my eyes closed, and this one was it! I definitely steeped it too long, but I added a bit more water when all was said and done, and the astringency didn’t kill me. (Yay, no death!)

Anyway, I actually rather enjoyed this. I was expecting lemon overkill (though I don’t know why, because the scent was really nothing to write home about), but it was actually refreshing and mild. I didn’t even try it unsweetened, because I had oversteeped it. The black tea base was a good middle-of-the-road Ceylon, with a nice malty flavor to counteract the sweetness of the lemon (and the sugar…). All in all, I almost failed at this tasting, but in the end I liked the tea, so huzzah!
