From Tea Needs

The origin of the Honey Oolong, or, Gui Fei Oolong tea is from Lugu, Nantou, Taiwan. It has another name called Honey Oolong because of the story behind it. Gui Fei Oolong Tea is the newness style of Oolong tea and it was developed after the earthquake that occurred in central Taiwan on September 21st, 1999. Following the devastating earthquake in this area, many tea farmers were unable to give their tea farm fertilizer or pesticide because they were too busy rebuilding in order to harvest the summer batch. Because of the lack of pesticide, these tea leaves attract the Jacobiasca Formosana Paoli, commonly known as the “tea green leaf-hopper” After these bugs bit the tea leaves, and the leaves would ooze their juices re-sealing the tea leaves, then the leaves would produce a honey like taste characteristic. The shape of Gui Fei Oolong is tightly rolled which has honey sweet flavor, complexity and depth, similar to Oriental Beauty, with a more complex and sweet flavour. One of natures remarkable attributes! Comes freshly vacfoil packaged 50gr.
