Spring Flowers

Cultivar: Si Ji Chun Oolong
Harvested by hand on April 6, 2014
Origin: Zhushan, Nantou (central Taiwan)
Process: Light oxidized, unroasted Oolong.

Like this spring’s jade Oolong, these leaves come from a plantation between Zhushan and Yiguang shan. The terrain is mountainous already and the elevation is around 600-700 meters. This explains why this tea was harvested relatively late and why its dry leaves are quite big.

The brew is very clear. The characteristic of the SiJichun (4 seasons spring) cultivar is its very flowery fragrance. It is obtained naturally, without any artificial scents. And since it’s quite affordable, Sijichun Oolong is a very popular everyday fresh Oolong. What distinguishes this batch is the handharvest and relatively high elevation. These 2 factors explain the smoother and fresher taste.
