One of our favorite teas at any age, this tea’s seen a good ten years (possibly more) since it’s harvest. The spicy aroma is softer than it was even a few years ago but the flavor is richer and smoother. We still get the plummy notes and there’s an exotic spice that captures our fancy. However, there is definitely an echelon above the rest that exists and this belongs in it. I’m left wordless. Serious, serious tea.
Much depth, structure and a profound calming quality. The flavor just goes on for miles and the mouthfeel is rich and soft.
when this is near spent i have been adding some heavily roasted tung ting to the gaiwan which is great on its own but the combination allows for an element of complexity. anything to stretch the flavor of this tea. it works.
