Yum! A nice strong breakfast tea with soy creamer to go with my ridiculous birthday breakfast (2 eggs with Korean chili pepper, 2 gluten free toaster waffles with yogurt, Happy Planet smoothie, water… although the smoothie might come to work instead).

I’m blaming my hangry state on the fact that I forgot to eat yesterday when I went to Langley, and that when I finally did eat I ended up with a tummy ache. So far today, so good.

Anyways, the tea. Rich, malty (oh, can I ever taste that today), smooth, delicious. This is my favourite Irish Breakfast blend.

Thanks everyone! Apparently I wasn’t feeling as great as I thought, as I just got up from a nap and have to deal with work emails now! First thing I did when I got up was put the kettle on. :D You know you love tea when…

Thanks Sil for including this one.
Not sure why I’m drinking Irish Breakfast at 8:00 PM but oh well that’s how I’m rolling today.
This is a little bit of everything, a bit tart, a bit astringent, a bit malty. Not my favorite blend, but pretty good. Yep – I’m ok with this tonight.

Tart, tangy, a little edgy, this is a rich cup. It’s potent! Tasting of wood, leather, malt, tobacco, sour rye. It would best be served with breakfast, but instead I had it with a sweet treat:
2 apples, dices & sautéed in coconut oil, then sprinkled with cardamom (or cinnamon, or both…nutmeg is another option). Add a little vanilla & melt a couple T of coconut butter, or just add a little coconut milk…or other kind of milk…
Meanwhile, dissolve 1 T of gelatin in cold 1/4 water, or some kind of milk.
When the apples are tender & everything seems just right (and the planets are perfectly aligned) stir in the gelatin, stir it around to make sure it is all dissolved, then divide everything between a serving dish or 2 & refrigerate for an hour or 2.

I’m in love with gelatin right now. I bought some frozen peaches today to make a peach & coconut milk one tomorrow. I think I’m gonna make a banana coconut milk pudding in a little while. I just can’t get enough! Perfect with a robust cup of tea!

Thanks to Sil for this tea, and that’s another Sipdown, folks!

PS. I should have drank this yesterday, since it was St. Pat’s!

Wow, those gelatin ideas sound great! I’ve never tried anything like that, but now I’m going to :)

Tonight I opened a can of coconut milk, blended it with a couple bananas, 2 egg yolks, vanilla, a little maple syrup, cardamom & nutmeg (I’m out of cinnamon). Then while the gelatin was ‘blooming’ in 1/4c cold water, I gently heated everything else. You don’t want it to boil, just get warm enough so that when you add the gelatin it dissolves the rest of the way. I put banana slices in 4 ramekins, poured the mixture over them, & after a few hours in the frig I just ate one of them. I get another one for breakfast! I’m on a ‘jello’ kick. I think tomorrow I’m going to blend a can of coconut milk, frozen peaches that have been allowed to thaw, the same spices, etc.
Check this link out (although most of these things are probably way too sweet for me!)

whoohoo! finally on today’s teas lol this is pretty much my last day in november to drink teas given the travelling that’s coming up, so i’m trying to enjoy it. the snow is falling outside, and i’m sitting (in between working) in our kitchen nook watching it fall, drinking my tea. perfect only marred by the absence of my other half since he’s at work and can’t exactly do that from home. I do still enjoy this tea – it’s bold and strong and delicious. I just wish that steam would do 50g instead of this 100g crap. even if i adore a tea, i’d rather pick up 50g and place another order when i get through that amount – if only to keep my cupboard under control! thanks agin though for introducing me, omgsrsly :)

OMGsrsly

Snow. Snow? Just. Already?

OMGsrsly

THEY DO 50G! I have no idea why you had problems that one day. I’ve seen other people ask for 50g too. (Unless you’re just saying this because you want 100g After Dark, which could be arranged.)

Sil

hahaha we’re supposed to get 27cm or some nonsense like that? Which i’m ok with because i love snow..but not ok with if i get snowed in to chicago and miss vacation…

and i asked for 50g when i went and they said NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :( after dark is the exception to that rule….i feel like i could have a pound of that ant not get tired of it..except that i’m sure i would… but you know….

also..i totally set aside a sample to send courtney and she’s all mostly mia..so part of me is like…i could have that cup…and then buy more…and send her more later lol

OMGsrsly

I need to feel better before I go tea shopping and get you your After Dark to send.

Kittenna

looks up After Dark O.o
