Yunnan, known as the birthplace of tea, is a province in southwestern China that borders Vietnam, Burma, and Laos. Yunnan translates literally to “south of the clouds”. Its diverse landscape offers everything from tropical rainforests to mountainous terrain and is home to a wide variety of plant species. The Yunnan region focuses heavily on agricultural production.
Yunnan teas are particularly delightful as breakfast or early afternoon teas.
Golden Yunnan Black Tippy is a bright, coppery, full-bodied tea from the famous Yunnan province of China. This tea brews into a soft, rounded cup with pleasant, slightly peppery notes, and is a wonderful example of a high-grade Chinese black tea with abundant golden tips. The twisted leaves give a light, clean mouthfeel, with notes of pepper, tarragon, and mint and a dry, astringent finish.
Like other Chinese black teas, it’s mild enough to enjoy on its own without any milk or sweetener. Golden Yunnan Black Tips contains a moderate amount of caffeine (about half that of a cup of coffee).
Brew tea at 212º – steep for 3 minutes.
