Kenya GFOP ‘Milima’ is high quality single estate tea processed using only traditional and orthodox methods (which is very rare in this region producing tea for large commercial companies).
It is produced from bushes grown in the Kanyan Highlands at 6000 feet or higher, where after picking at dawn the leaves are gently hand rolled to obtain twisted leaf and keep the floral character. After 3 rolls the leaf is left to oxidize before drying and then sorted in three primary grades: GFBOP, GFOP and GFBOP1. Each grade contains good amount of golden tips giving it appearance of premium Assam. Also brewed tea is slightly similar to Assam in colour (deep orange-red) and aroma but has softer malty flavour with notes of fruits and spices.
