It is amazing what just a touch of vanilla flavor can do for the taste buds! This Earl Grey tea includes the classic combination of oil of bergamot with whole leaf premium black tea but takes the traditional blend one step further. With the addition of a touch of vanilla the character of Earl Grey gets a touch of softness that produces a tea that is both sweet and fruity for a perfect taste combination. While the crème smoothes out the traditional Earl Grey taste making a cup of tea that can be served for just about any occasion.
I figured with my senses being off, i might as well taken this opportunity to try out the bergamot filled tea that Hallieod sent my way :) She did warn me that it was coming, so no harm there. Turns out, that i’m ok with earl grey cream. Mostly because to me? It tastes like lemon. Which may or not be weird. Holding off on rating this one for now until my sinuses and such clean up but so far, not a terrible cup, though still nothing i’d ever be ordering for myself :)
This is an excellent Earl Grey Creme, the black tea is a good, strong base of black tea flavor that holds its own and is tasted even though it has been heavily flavored with bergamot (I love strong bergamot!) and what I like best about this particular blend is that even though it is a “de la creme” Earl Grey, the vanilla flavoring doesn’t soften this tea to the point of being more like a creamsicle than a Earl Grey tea. Don’t get me wrong, I love creamsicles, but, when I’m drinking an Earl Grey, I want bergamot!
Instead, the vanilla softens the bergamot just enough to curb the sharpness without muting its tangy qualities. This is smooth and rich and sweet and delicious. YUM!

The description says “vanilla” but it’s a different sort of “vanilla”…I wasn’t actually thinking “vanilla” at all…but certainly a CREAM…maybe like a Creme filling of a chocolate found in those assorted chocolate boxes type of cream. This is good hot or cold and is still strong with the 2nd infusion, too!

no no no no no! the only earl grey i seem to be able to handle is earl grey creams…because they taste like lemon. lol

Yeah don’t ask me why but earl grey cream consistently tastes like a lemon cream to me. Apparently it messes up my taste buds just enough lol
As a former EG-phobe, I’ve gradually grown to appreciate a few. The EG from Smith (#55) is particularly nice!
I think the big deciding for me is whether they use real essential oil, real fruit, or some lame artificial flavoring.
Also, the first time I tasted cheesecake, I hated it. It took awhile for me to love it. Unfortunately I’m allergic to milk now (probably always was, just didn’t realize it), so I never get cheesecake (probably a good thing, as I would eat it too much).
Lemon cream sounds better than perfume (which is what I get with some EG’s).
