From Rakkasan Tea Company

Traditionally balled, Nine Dragons Oolong is produced from one bud and two leaves and harvested from 300-400-year-old wild-growing, large-leafed tea trees. It has a higher degree of oxidation than many other oolongs and does not have a separate roasting phase at the end of rolling and drying.

The leaves come from wild tea trees harvested from Cho Long in the Yen Chau district of Sơn La province. Yen Chau lies between Moc Chau (where the tea is processed) and the Vietnam/Lao border.

This one runs the gamut of flavours. It takes a while to open up. Early steeps are fruity, growing more tart, then slightly yammy, and at last very floral and almost reminiscent of perfume. It’s interesting, but none of the flavours stood out as great examples of their type for me. Possibly a good choice for days when you’re not sure what tea you want!
