This tea reminds me a lot of a Darjeeling, both in appearance and in flavor. In fact, had someone just sat this cup in front of me without telling me what type of tea it was, I would guess it was a Darjeeling.
But, according to the package it is a Nilgiri. It has a bright, brisk flavor. It is somewhat astringent which leaves the palate feeling clean but not overly dry. Very smooth and no bitterness. A light sweetness with a muscatel-ish note.
A very pleasant tea. The light sweetness makes it quite delicious without adding any sweetener or milk. I like it very much.
Edited to add: After this tea cooled slightly, this became more Nilgiri-like than Darjeeling-like. I’m getting less of a muscatel note now and more of a citrus-y note. A very interesting tea…
Another one I would LOVE to try!
Sounds lovely and complex.
