From Norbu Tea

Our Pudina Chai is Second Flush black tea from Giddapahar Tea Estate blended with a good amount of dry mint. The dark amber infusion is a delicate balance of mellow Darjeeling black tea flavor and the cool, refreshing taste of mint. It is excellent served hot, but it is absolutely perfect (to our taste) iced.

Preparation Guideline (Hot):
Amount of leaf: 2 Teaspoons per Cup
Water Temperature: Full Boil (212 F)
Steeping Time: 5 Minutes
Optional: Serve with Milk and/or sweetener of choice

Preparation Guideline (Iced):
Amount of leaf: 3 Teaspoons per Cup
Water Temperature: Full Boil (212 F)
Steeping Time: 5-10 Minutes
Optional: Serve with a slice of lemon and/or sweetener of choice

Ingredients: Darjeeling Tea, Mint

This is interesting. Definitely a Darjeeling, definitely mint. Possibly spearmint… which is not usually anything I like. But this is not a bad after dinner cup. It’s very light and you can definitely taste mint but not in an herbal way, there is tea here, too. I would not pick this out as a 2nd flush, but that could either be to hesitant steeping or due to the fact that my palate just can’t pick out the differences unless I have them side by side. I wasn’t really confident in the boiling for a 5 minute steep instructions so I went with less than boiling for about 3 minutes. Luckily, ifjuly sent along enough of this that I can try another cup or two and play with it a bit!

ooh, thanks for this note—i haven’t tried this one yet actually. i’m crossing my fingers it will make excellent coldsteeped tea once it warms up (which it seems to be beginning to this week!), since traditionally i love both mint tea and darjeeling separately coldsteeped.

Nicole

It might be a very good cold tea.

Nicole sent this one for me to try and i’m glad for it, since I am a fan of trying Norbu teas. Their min quantities are 100g, so it’s hard to get a sense of what i’d like before buying. Thankfully i do have steepster friends willing to split orders or, in the case of nicole (and others!) send samples to me.

This is a very light, refreshing tea. The mint in this isn’t overpowering and blends nicely with the darjeeling. There are under notes of a nature – reminding me more of a black tea, than a darjeeling (yes i know darjeelings are black..but they’re quasi black imo). i like this quite a bit. Thanks Nicole!
