High Mountain Milk Oolong turned processed into a GABA oolong anyone? This rare tea from our new partner farm in the Alishan area is a real treat. Creamy, rich fruit leather and sweet black raisins are the dominant flavor for this tea that has quite a high concentration of GABA. If you enjoy the feeling that GABA tea gives you, you will enjoy this one!

Cultivar: Jinxuan

Oxidization: GABA Oxygen Free Fermentation Process

Season: Spring 2019

Method: Hand picked, processed on site, very small batch

Region: Alishan, Meishan District, Nantou County

Recommend Brewing Style:

Gong Fu Style: 3-5g per 100ml, ~95C(205f) water, 30, 45, 60 then add 5-10 seconds steeps in gaiwan. Lasts 4-5 steeps.

Western Style: 3g per 100ml, ~95C(205f) water for 2 minutes. Lasts 2-3 steeps

Homemade Advent Exchange Tea #4

This tea is delicious! It’s a really nice oolong with a good balance between toasty and vegetal. It is slightly sweet and creamy, but not quite a milk oolong. There is an orchid floral flavour in the background. I love that this tea is not drying at all. It actually is quite thirst quenching. No bitterness or buckwheat/tasoted rice that some oolongs have. It leans towards a green oolong but has a tiny hint of tastiness in there as well. It reminds me of oats.

Very light and just a tiny bit creamy. I’m not really getting the “fruit leather and sweet black raisins” promised in the description, though. It’s more wet earth and maybe a smidge of breadiness?

This is my first GABA tea. So far I notice no special calming effects. :)
