From Lupicia

GINGER & LEMON MYRTLE is a blend of caffeine-free rooibos and honeybush, topped with warming dried ginger and refreshing lemon myrtle. One of our most popular herbal blends, the flavor goes well with honey if you prefer a sweeter taste.

I’m staying home from work today, sick with a cold. This combination of lemon myrtle, ginger, rooibos, and honeybush sounded like just the thing to clear my head!! The rooibos and honeybush are the stars here, and the lemon myrtle and ginger give it a nice kick!! This is definitely something that I will be keeping around my tea cupboard. I enjoy it greatly and it is very refreshing. I’m thinking that this will be a great iced tea once summer is here.

Feel better soon! Ginger is great for colds! :)

This is usually not my cup of tea but I am having a sore throat and I’ve run out of chamomile… most of the teas I have at home are black tea so I figure that this is the best for me. It really is, I think. With ginger this herbal tea is very warming… it’s gentle and soothing to my throat. I don’t like lemon myrtle but I guess I can’t be too picky under such circumstances…

It seems I am in a Steepster no-man’s land: I seem to be logged in, but can’t log out and couldn’t review teas (just kept getting redirected to a phantom dashboard.) So, I shall fire off a bunch of reviews this morning whilst I have access.

I do not like most rooibos and this poor chap is no exception. It is a wet-doggy honeybush rooibos which is thankfully offset by a good amount of ginger and lemon myrtle. It does give me a sickroom sort of image and might be nice if you’re feeling under the weather. I must say the ginger and lemon myrtle combination is quite zesty and refreshing, so I’d like to try it in a non-rooibos blend.

No fault of Lupicia, but the quest continues for a rooibos I’d actually want to drink on a regular basis. Points for the other elements but dodge this one if you are not a rooibos fan, since that note is most prominent in this blend.

Have you tried their Caramel Rum rooibos? It was the first palatable rooibos I had. I just don’t care for red rooibos, but I enjoy green. Jardin Saivage is a good example from Lupicia.

Yes, the cookie clearing is a good idea, but it seems it didn’t grand acesss. It seems to be fine when I am in Incognito mode, however. I reckon I need to update my whole computer, probably.

Sipdown! 58/365

This was labelled “Lemon Myrtle” in Sil’s handwriting, so I had a teensy bit of trouble finding the listing – and also no clue it contained ginger! When I drank it, I thought it was straight lemon myrtle with rooibos, which actually tasted more refreshing than I expected. It’s possible there was ginger there too, but when you aren’t looking for it, sometimes you don’t find it.

Anyhow, I imagine this would be tasty as a summer cold brew, although I’d probably prefer an alternate base. Thanks for the share, Sil and Cavocorax!

I like the ginger + lemony herb combo. I should keep this around for when I’m sick. It actually tastes like there is lemon zest in the tea, so the lemon myrtle must be very fresh. The ginger could be spicier/stronger, but it is enjoyable anyway. Simple, soothing, and completely caffeine free.

I wa on vacation so I brought a bunch of teabags/sachets with me. Lemon myrtle is one of my absolute favorite scents so i knew I had to try it. This was a lovely surprise. The ginger is well balanced with the lemon myrtle. The tea was refreshing and I could see it working well when feeling under the weather. I got 3 steeps out of it. Yeah!

Not sick. Not coming down with anything. At least I don’t think so. But today was kinda crappy so it sounded like a good idea. I’m an off and on fan of Rooibos. Honeybush is much better but some how I get more rooibos then I do honeybush in this…. Surprisingly I’m not tasting as much lemon as I thought I would. Which is good! Lemon can over power and ruin a tea easily. The ginger is also timid but gives a nice little zing.

Sipdown! A sample of this came in the most recent magazine. It’s nice. The ginger and lemon are equally balanced. Hardcore ginger fans would find this unsatisfying, but I like the medium ginger flavor and the way it’s softened by the lemon myrtle. Plus, I got two solid steeps out of the leaf. This would be a nice alternative to the straight ginger tea in my cabinet.

I like this one too..nicely balanced…though I always want more ginger

I was actually thinking about you while writing this! I figured you’d be dissatisfied with the mildness of the ginger.

Sil

hahaha i was, but still really liked it because of the way the blend works together.

Evening tisane from The Book of Tea, which I’ve been entrusted by my family to act as the search engine for. I could spend forever just looking through there!

This one has a nice, gentle ginger and lemony aroma. The tea brews up to an orange-gold color. There’s a warming quality from the ginger, but very little bite. The sweet woodsiness of the rooibos base provides a nice backdrop, though I can’t quite tell between the distinguishing characteristics of rooibos and honeybush yet. Overall, it’s relatively mild but enjoyable in the later hours.

As a child, my grandmother used to make this remedy for me whenever my throat started to catch in hopes to prevent an oncoming cold. The first sip I took from a cuppa Ginger & Lemon Myrtle took me right back to that same time. However, while it did remind me of that fond childhood memory, it didn’t quite replicate the same soothing feeling I had experienced.
Smell

When first opening the closed loose leaf bag, the strong, lemon scent is what immediately hit me. Upon further takes, the hints of rooibos became more and more apparent. The ginger was very faint.

Taste

The lemon was the first thing that came to me, followed by the dry, grassy rooibos. The ginger became more and more prominent near the end, leaving its strong impression in the aftertaste.
