From Lupicia

Famous white tea from Fujian province, using the silvery tips of the tea plant. Mellow light sweetness and a soft mouthfeel are hallmarks of this tea, which can be enjoyed over several infusions. Recommended water temperature to bring out the best flavor is slightly below boiling 185-194 (85-90?).

And another sipdown for today!
This may be my last cuppa for the day. Gotta leave at 3 and I work till 2am soooo yeah.

Good tea, but sorta done with it now. Decent white, but I’ve definitely had better :)

Note: Next time, 185˚F, 45s for first infusion.

1st infusion: 185˚F, 1 min
Smells beautiful and floral. Still tastes slightly bitter. Maybe I need to steep for shorter. Or for longer. (Confused)

2nd infusion: 185˚F, split experiment
Half of this infusion steeped for 1:00, the other half for 2:30. Shorter is the clear winner here. The 1:00 was light and fresh, 2:30 was incredibly bitter. Now I know. Don’t follow the instructions on the package (which says 1 to 1.5 min).

3rd infusion: 185˚F, 1:15
Now I’ve got the hang of it. Could probably have gone a bit hotter or longer.

4th infusion: 190˚F, 1:45

5th infusion: 190˚F, 2:10
Done.

Flavors: Floral

I thought I wrote a review for this already but I guess not. So I will start by thanking the awesome jump62359 for sending this my way. The white base is very present in this cup in a leafy/buttery way while the peony comes through as a bit too floral and maybe a bit drying? It really is not as bad as that may sound but for my personal tastes, I am just not loving the cup. However, it is always fun to try something new so I am happy I got the chance to taste it :)

I smelled this and thought it seemed too pungently floral – seems like I made a good call. =)
