From Kally Tea

Nilgiri region black tea, blended with cinnamon chips, to give it a nice spicy bite. But we didn’t stop there, give it a plum flavor to add a depth of fruitiness as well as safflowers to balance it all into a comforting aroma and there you have Kally Tea’s presentation of “Plum Spice”.

Ingredients: Black Tea, Cinnamon Chips, Safflowers, Cinnamon and Plum Flavors.

I am on a black tea kick! I don’t expect it to last long as they never do, but I am so loving it. Usually one cup every day or two is fine. The last week or so however, I cannot seem to get enough ceylon, assam, or chinese breakfast.
Thus… my cuppa plum spice is really hitting the spot. Mmmmm good!
It also means that I’m neglecting the rest of my stash! heh

oh yeah baby! Sipdown! come to mama 155, come to mama! lol I steeped this one a little too long today but that made the re-steep much more pleasant. This is a pretty decent plummy tea, though the spice is slightly overwhelming in the first steep. This might be the one tea i’ve had where i generally prefer the second steep.

Lala

Sil, what happens when you get to 150?

Sil

lala – absolutely nothing haha BUT my goal this year was to get to 150 for boxing day specials…so that i could take advantage of those without feeling guilty that i had too much tea.

For this week, i’m really just trying to get down as far as i can since i have about 30+ teas that will be arriving at my house this weekend. I was very nearly going to be almost at 300 with those incoming when i got back from china. Now i’m feeling much better about my stash lol

Esepcially since though my cupboard is at 150 there are probably another 10+ teas that aren’t logged because i picked them up in china and have no real way to track them.

Shmiracles

HAHAH i love this! i spend a lot of time thinking like you are. (’i ordered 8 more samples but there are 34 samples in my backlog tasting drawer and i really should move those forward before i try the new ones blah blah") ie i have too much tea. yay boo yay.
it makes me feel warm and fuzzy knowing you are trying to tame yourself a bit too. i can super relate.
Go Sil! Sipdown and Win!

Sil

generally once a month i go through my cupboard to pull out teas that are within 1-2 cups. then i get to do a few sipdowns over that next week. It just so happens Kittenna; Indigobloom and Raritea are coming over next weekend and we’re meeting up to exchange all of the teas we jointly ordered over the past month or so… haha

Shmiracles

omg hah quit braggin! that is so cool! i hope one of you can take pics and maybe put’em on instagram or something. that’s gonna be a great day.

Indigobloom

Its gonna be a tea partay in the house…. that’s right, I said it! :P

Kittenna

You clearly drink so much more tea than me. I haven’t even tried Plum Spice yet, lol.

Sil

Kittenna…I’m just trying to get to my “older” things…not that any of its really old

Liberteas! Thanks Girl!

First infusion…I could taste the full black tea base then the spices and then the plum. I enjoyed my first infusion but was looking for a little bit more plum.

The 2nd infusion, however, HAD that little more plum I was searching for. I may be one of the few people who try and get multiple infusions out of black teas. Sometimes they don’t always play along with multiple infusions. THIS one, DID!!!! I was so happy! The plum was lovely and the spices were nice, too! The black tea base was toned down a bit from the first infusion but that was ok, too.

I like that not only I was able to get multiple infusions out of this but because the infusions were different and both satisfying to my palate but in different ways! Nice flavored black tea!

This sounds awesome! I love anything plum spice. For example I’m already halfway through my Sugar Plum Spice Celestial Seasonings box, my first of the season. Added to shopping list. :)

Nice! This tea reminds me very much of the holidays, especially the fragrance which is very cinnamon-y.

The first flavor I noticed was that of the Nilgiri tea, and that brought a smile to my face … although I must admit that I was rather surprised at first, because I was expecting the cinnamon to be the first thing I tasted since it is so well-pronounced in the aroma. The cinnamon is a spicy-sweet cinnamon, but the flavor is much softer than the aroma led me to believe. Sure, the cinnamon is there, abundantly, but, it isn’t overwhelming. The plum comes in about mid-sip, but becomes strongest in the aftertaste where there is a distinct plum-y taste. YUM!

This is my first plum tea, I have the chance to taste it thanks to Sil
It’s a very mild cinnamon-y tea perfectly balanced with the plum aroma. There is a slight tartness on aftertaste.
The tea base is really nice and present, not too strong neither.
I preferred it very hot rather than just warm, so I need to hurry up to finish my cup !

0.9 tablespoons of dry leaf for 375 ml of water

The brewed tea has a sugary spice scent with a touch of fruity-ness to it. The scent of the black tea is present in the background.

Primary smooth black tea taste with spice and fruity flavour complement. The primary spice flavour is cinnamon. Delightful combination.

Thanks to Indigobloom and Sil for sharing this with me!

When I first opened the package of tea I remember taking a big sniff and thinking that it smelled like Christmas, and then I sneezed, ruining the moment I was having. I’m actually allergic to cinnamon, but sometimes I can’t help myself so I dope myself up on Claritin so I can have some. I couldn’t really smell the plum, but the spicy scent of cinnamon was there letting me know I was in for a treat. It was also very strong in the first steep of the brewed tea, almost taking over the entire cup, letting only the black base shine though. I only caught the occasional hint of fruit flavor from the plum. This was a bit of a disappointment considering that the name of the tea is Plum Spice, I really expected more of the plum flavor to show through.

This should have at least one note for it from me, but of course it doesn’t.

Anyhow, not such a big fan of this tea. Kind of a plummy slightly spiced black. Not offensive, but nothing I’m overly fond of. I would much prefer that this was their Tangerine Spice.
