I received a wonderful package from MissB the other day, full of samples from her exciting travels and other orders from around the world. Thank you so much, gorgeous!

I didn’t even know about this company so I’m looking forward to trying a few of their blends. I’m normally not that crazy of a fan of tulsi but sometimes it’s nice to sip on a refreshing herbal. This one is particularly pepperminty and peppery. It’s complete with a shot of lemon in the background.

Backlog:

I enjoyed this one from Just.Organic.Tea. As I said in the full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/07/02/just-tulsi-with-a-twist-from-just-organic-tea/ It’s sweet, lemony, and has just enough spicy kick to keep the taste buds happy.

The peppermint is not an assertive flavor and I was kind of surprised by this because normally peppermint is quite an aggressive herb. Everything is nicely balanced here.

A nice, calming tea, especially nice after meals.

Ooh, I like this one! Lots of lemon flavor with the holy basil and spices making an appearance towards the end of the sip. I added a little sugar and am really enjoying the sweet/savory combination.

Thank you, Just Organic Teas for sending me this sample. It’s great!

This might be my favorite I’ve tried from JOTea so far… just my thing! I love tulsi since it is holy basil and I love basil.. especially the purple type. I also love that this type of tulsi tastes slightly like green beans since I love those too. I eat them raw.. I’d actually prefer them to potato chips (in the case of green beans they look like French fries!) This one is a very unique blend in that it also has lemon myrtle and spices. After waiting around ten minutes to steep the spices don’t overpower the lemon or tulsi. The lemon is definitely noticeable so there is a lovely balance between the tulsi, spices and lemon. Very nice! I’m so sorry for the late reviews, JustOrganicTea.com!

Another freebie sample from Shadowfall! I’ve never had tulsi before, but this sounded like a nice spice or citrus blend for the evening. Dry, it smells pretty spicy with some lemon in there. I steeped for 5 minutes.

I actually really like this tea! After taking a sip, I added about half a teaspoon of sugar. I like lemon better when it’s a little bit sweet, though not quite at lemon drop status. The lemon is definitely the main flavor in this tea. I’m not sure I detect anything that could be the tulsi, but I have no idea what it tastes like so it’s hard to say. I do get a little bit of the mint in there somewhere, and it gives a nice cooling sensation. The spice hides until the end of the sip and the aftertaste, where I get the kick of the pepper/cinnamon and the ginger makes my tongue tingle. Overall, this is a very likable tea, although I could’ve done without the ginger. :P

I drank all my just a trio of tulsi sample. Today I’m feeling hot and tired so I wished I had more tulsi and here is this mix. Its got a delightful pepper and ginger tingle on the tounge. I was worried about the mint because I don’t’ usually like it but this one is subtle. The mint, Tulsi and myrtle all mix together leaving a soothing coolness to the back of the throat with that hot tingle in the front. I poured the last of it over ice and that gives more lemon and tulsi taste. I like it but I liked the trio better! Thanks for letting me try this!

I am practically exploding with fidgety excitement! My much anticipated travel gaiwan set arrived today and I want to test it out, but I want to try it with Ben and waiting for him to get home is killing me! I am so extremely pleased with my new treasure, the six tiny cups, gaiwan, and cha hai all have a black and orange carp and a little bit of pond weeds. Also the pouch is tiny, it is smaller than my camera and is the perfect size to fit in my purse. So happy about my fishy tea set!

Today’s tea is another offering from Just Organic Tea, Just Tulsi With a Twist! A nice herbal blend of Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Ginger, Lemon Myrtle, Peppermint, and Tulsi. The aroma is quite peppery, lemony, spicy, and loads of tulsi goodness. I have become rather enamored of the aroma of tulsi…ok, I have become enamored of its taste as well. Do not, when sniffing this tea, stick your nose in and take a good sniff. I suggest wafting the aroma towards your nose because intense sniffing will end up in a sneeze. Pepper, gotta love the sneeze effect! The different elements of this tea have quite potent aromas, but they all manage to blend together well and balance nicely.

The brewed herb and spice pile has a very strong aroma, lots of ginger and lemon myrtle, a little too potent for me. There is also a hint of pepper and mint. The liquid without its herb-tastic friends is much milder. Notes of tulsi, lemon myrtle, and spices waft up with the steam from my cup. Yum!

The first thing I notice in tasting this tea is the pepper, it really seems to linger for the majority of the sip. There are other notes such as the lemon myrtle and tulsi, but along side these notes is the nice dashing of pepper. I think The Duchess’s Cook in Alice in Wonderland would be quite fond of this tea. After the initial herbal and peppery treat, the taste fades to a gentle sweetness and gingery finish. This tea did not strike me as much as their Just a Trio of Tulsi, but it is quite enjoyable in its uniqueness.

This tea is quite a mix of different flavors. Between work and wedding planning it has been a very stressful week already (it’s only Tuesday?!) and I heard Tulsi can be calming. I feel a bit calmer and relaxed but hot tea usually does that. This tea tastes of fairly strong lemon and pepper, an interesting mix.

Mikumofu

Best wishes to you two! I haven’t heard of tulsi before, sounds like an interesting herbal tea to try.

Megan

Thank you very much! I’ve only heard of tulsi recently due to the just organic tea samples. It’s a pretty tasty herbal.

This is a very relaxing tea. The tulsi is accompanied well by mint and lemon flavoring and is great right before bed! It reminded me a lot of the “sleepy” teas you can find at your grocery store, just a little better quality.
