These bushes grow at over 6000ft and the cold to temperate climate, shifting between fog and sunshine reduces the growing speed of the tea plants to guarantee an extremely high quality tea. Goomtee is located at Mahanadi, a small hamlet, just a few kilometers away from the picuresque town of Kurseong. The area is known as ‘The Land of White Orchids’. It is a century old plantation, laid out with acres of rolling tea bushes that virtually appear like a lush green carpet. Amidst the sunny slopes, many waterfalls and the misty valley, sits a beautiful, heritage bungalow with well-appointed rooms, that has played host to generations of tea planters since the days of the Raj. The Goomtee factory is now inspected and certified under ISO9001 and the HACCP protocols. They follow exactly the original and traditional methods of Darjeeling cultivation and processing. Most of the co-workers families are in their third generation of service and possess great artisan skills. Years of experience enable these tea makers to correctly estimate moisture content with 0.2% accuracy by touch and feel alone.
