The recent, phenomenal popularity of Puerh tea has considerably slowed the production of black tea in Yunnan province, as farmers and factories are all rushing to produce Puerhs and black tea production has virtually been forgotten. However, as the Puerh stampede has abated somewhat due to over-production and poor quality, black tea is beginning to make a comeback. We are very pleased to offer this true Yunnan tea for your consideration. It consists of only fuzzy gold-colored tips that have been hand-fashioned into uniformly sized rings. The liquor is a deep ruby red and has a chocolate-like note that is hard to find in present-day Yunnans.

Brewing Tips :This versatile black tea can be brewed in the standard English style: Use 3 grams of tea per 8-10 oz. of near-boiling water and steep for a full 5 minutes. Milk and sugar can be added; a shorter steeping time is recommended if drinking plain. Gaiwan and Gong Fu style brewing are also suitable. Adjust the quantity of leaves, steeping time, and water temperature according to your personal preferences.

I recently wrote a review at my tea blog (http://teawritings.com/?p=127) of “teas that taste like tea.” This one came in a close second to the Assam Gold Rain from Teavana, which turned out to be my favorite.

I wrote “Delightfully delicious! A truly luxurious taste of TEA. The fuzzy golden tips have been rolled into rings that are pleasing to the eye, but as they unfurl in the cup the scent makes you think of everything that is soothing and wonderful about a hot cup of tea. The flavor is almost malty in its mellowness.”

dexter sent this one my way which is nice ‘cause i’ve never heard of this company. this is a lighter yunnan. There’s nothing here to knock my socks off but it’s still a pleasant, middle of the road tea for me. No caramel notes for me, but i’ve got more to play with to see if i can find the best way to brew it :) regardless i good cup of tea! thanks dex!
