From English Tea Store

One of the most delectable pairings of flavors, when combined, chocolate and mint are sure to create an intoxicating taste. This tea delivers a bright and coppery infusion and a chocolatey mint flavor that is especially prominent when milk and sugar are added. We find this tea tastes best when served hot, but it can also be enjoyed over ice.

For the best brew, our Chocolate Mint black tea should steep in water that has been brought to a rolling boil for 2-5 minutes.

This tastes like a liquid thin mint. Lightly chocolatey, very minty, a hint of creaminess. Sugary-sweet too, since I added a ton! Hey, it’s a dessert tea. There’s not really a whole lot of “tea” going on thought… there’s that standard “tea” flavor in the background but no stand-out notes. However, I find myself liking ETS’ base black for blends like this. Some companies (I’m looking at you, Adagio) have ones that steep up bitter unless you get it just right. For something like chocolate mint tea I want something easy that I don’t have to fuss over or baby.

meh. not a fan of this one. Especially when i can drink butiki’s version for less money and it’s tastier. So what if it’s not black…not like i don’t have a zillion black teas in my cupboard haha. The base of this one just isn’t the kind of black base that i enjoy. This one is going in to the swap box for others to try for sure. Thanks Cavo? Not the tea for me..but good to cross another one off my list!

I got the chocolate lovers sampler from ETS today, a little annoyed that they decided to substitute Night of the Iguana with an extra pouch of Chocolate Mint… But onto this tea’s tasting notes.

When I opened the pouch I was greeted by a noseful of mint and slight hint of chocolate. When I smelled all that mint I was worried that it would wind up being like the Chocolate Cream mint overpowering disappointment from TeaSource. I first tried brewing for 2 minutes, thought it too weak and steeped for another 3 minutes. Added about a teaspoon of sugar, no milk or cream.

It’s not cocoa but so far it has been the best chocolate tea I have tried yet. The mint is there but is not overpowering, it is a good compliment to the chocolate I can taste on the sides of my tongue. The tea seems to grow sweeter and more delicately chocolate as it cools. I can barely taste the black tea.

Next time I make this I think I’ll try adding a little milk.

It really irks me when a company decides to substitute a product without consulting with the customer. I think that if they do not have one of the products in the set, then they should give the customer the option of choosing the substitution (within reason, of course), rather than just assuming that the substitution will be fine.

I also ordered the Earl Grey sampler and they substituted Scottish Breakfast for Dorian Grey >:( It would be nice to get a word in on substitutions.

Finally, a chocolate tea that tastes like chocolate. Good chocolate mint flavor, reminds me of the Velamints candies I used to have as a kid. Like most chocolate teas, this does have a bit of an artificial flavor, but not enough to bother me. Prepared with almond milk and stevia.
