For me this was a fairly basic shou, typical shou flavors, nothing remarkable, no off flavors.

I received an amazing surprise package in the mail today. I have the best tea friends. It’s a cute celadon set. I love celadon. So of course I need to make dark shou to start the crackles. This is good – sweet – what it should be.
So yeah – tonight is all about hockey (OMG what a crazy game, with a heart break ending….), greasy Chinese takeout, shou, and thinking about what amazing tea friends I have.

I was surprised how much I liked this tea since I’m usually not a big fan of shou. I didn’t really do a session. Just threw some in a pot while I watched TV. It tasted more like a mature sheng than a young shou. No fermentation flavor; color is more brown than red. Rich leafy flavors.

I never left a review on this tea? I know I’ve had it awhile and have enjoyed it a few times so I’m surprised I never left a review.

Anyway, I’m enjoying it this afternoon. All that talk of chocolate pu-erh going on got me wanting some dark pu-erh.

I’m not getting much chocolate this afternoon. I know I have in the past from this tea so I figure it’s got to be from later infusions? I guess I will find out soon. Just brewed infusion Number 3. Lets see- sluuuuurp. Yep, it’s getting better.

This is a relatively tasty tea with a fair amount of fermentation flavor left. It is sweet and earthy. It has been described as having cocoa notes by other Steepster members. I won’t disagree with that but I wasn’t paying attention.

I steeped this tea six times in a 207ml Taiwan Clay Teapot with 8.5g leaf and boiling water. I steeped it for 10 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 30 sec, and 1 min. If I had not had enough caffeine I could easily have gotten four more steeps out of it.
