From Della Terra Teas

If you love walnut this is a must have! For this green tea we have combined a most amazing walnut brittle with real walnut pieces and halves, China Sencha green tea, pineapple pieces and coconut flakes. WAIT, coconut and pineapple flakes in my walnut tea? WHY? After many blending we realized all the flavors married together created the most aromatic and flavorful walnut taste imaginable. This evokes the classic woodsy taste of an English Walnut, right in your very own cup.

Ingredients: Chinese sencha green tea, walnut taste with walnut and hazlenut brittle, pineapple pieces, coconut flakes.

Suggested brewing tips:
- Serving Size: 1 level tsp./6oz serving
- Water Temp: 210°F
- Steep Time: 2- 3 minutes

Awwwww nuts! ;)
Yep, I can definitely taste the Walnut here. It’s mighty good. The coconut is there to. The pair seem to get along well together. In my mind, they have a rather similar mouthfeel so perhaps that’s why?
However, I’m not so sure i like the addition of pineapple. It lends a fruity aspect that I feel just doesn’t belong. Also, there is an odd stale note/scent. Often, I notice that with nuts in general, so don’t go by my note. People tell me they don’t taste it when I often do so it might just be my wacky buds.
Anyhow, I like this tea! Of course it is making the roof of my mouth a little raw so I’m not sure about a second infusion :(

Kittenna

Yeah, I bet that stale note is just an artifact of the presence of nuts. I get it with walnuts in particular (like DT’s Snow Bunny).

tattooed_tea

Yea probably from the nuts… they go stale/rancid relatively quickly. This is one of my favourite teas.

Indigobloom

Good to know I’m not alone in this. I haven’t tried Snow Bunny, that I recall.
Tattooed: I wonder if there is a big variance between different batches

On the Seventh Day of Christmas, DTerra Teas sent me this tea!

http://sororiteasisters.com/2012/12/20/on-the-seventh-day-of-christmas-della-terra-teas-sent-to-me/

I enjoyed this first (and possibly only?) green tea in the DTerra Teas 12 Days of Christmas box. I loved the toasty sweetness of the walnuts, and the coconut added creaminess to the cup. I liked the fruit elements in this because it kept the flavors interesting. A very delightful tea!

Yum! I just ordered a couple of teas from della terra to try them out, I’m very excited! Thank goodness for steepster..I can broaden my tea brand horizons :)

Kittenna

Have you had Toasted Walnut from DavidsTea? I’m curious as to how it compares. I like TW (but it’s a bit finicky) and have a sample of this, although I don’t recall if I packed it or if it’s still at home.

LiberTEAS

I haven’t had the Toasted Walnut from David’s Tea, @Kittenna, I wish I could help you with a comparison, but, haven’t tried it.

Kittenna

No worries! I’ll do it myself later, I was just wondering :) I hadn’t ordered it, but received it as a sample with my first Della Terra order.

Oh this one sounds good! And different!

The ingredients on this one seem a little perplexing, so I got a sample size only in my Try Me pack. I mean, a green walnut tea I can get behind, but with coconut and pineapple?! Uhh it sounds good, but very tropical and not at all like walnut brittle or reminiscent of English forests as the description claims. So I ordered this with skepticism, hoping for the best but expecting something… weird. Holy cow, I was wrong! I opened up the bag and the dry leaves smell like walnut candy. No tropical scent to be found, though there’s a good bit of coconut and pineapple in my sample. Curious!

There was one huuuge walnut in my bag, but I broke it up into little pieces just to evenly distribute the nutty goodness. The whole time I was preparing this tea (cooling the water, adding the leaves to the teapot, brewing it, etc) I was blown away by the smell. I want to eat these leaves, it’s just SO good! And the flavor… it’s even better. I honestly think some kind of magic must have gone into this tea, it is so very much walnut candy in a cup. Rich, buttery walnut! I think the green tea was a really good choice, it adds a flowery lightness and a buttery quality without overpowering the walnut: I think as a black tea this would be very different and not nearly as good.

Now, about the pineapple and coconut… I can’t taste them! Well, not as individual elements. There’s an almost-fruitiness, a creaminess possibly from the coconut, and a honey-sweetness I suppose is also coming from them. But damn, I would never in a million years guess the ingredients here! The more I drink, the more I am so in love with this. It really has almost cake-y notes, a strong vanilla taste and it really is like a baked cake with walnut brittle on top. Like… a vanilla cupcake, with a creamy frosting and then sprinkled with walnut brittle! It might seem crazy but I swear it is JUST what this tea tastes like. It’s so addictive, I am already on my second cup and think I can get 3 brews out of these leaves easy.

Thankfully my sample has enough for about 3 goes, but I know I need more of this in my life. It is SO good, I really want to try it iced now! Or make ice cream out of it… or buttercream frosting. Real, 6 stick of butter style buttercream, not wussy 1-stick frosting with tons of powdered sugar. Oh god the idea of baking with this tea is making my mouth water… if you are wondering what teas to start with from Della Terra (since they have a huge selection!) I would say this and Mother of Pearl: both are very, very special teas that I must always have on hand!

I forgot I had this tea! I was in a hurry to make some cold steeps before I went out to do grocery shopping.

I cold steeped this.. uhh.. a couple hours? I forgot which one was this one until I took a sip. Coconut? Walnut – ahh walnut brittle!

holy wow, this one is divine and luxurious and I think it was blended just for me. Pecans, walnuts, hazelnut, coconut, pineapple! Such an amazing flavor. It’s so creamy and sweet. It’s almost too sweet. I steeped these green tea leaves for 3-4 minutes and they didn’t get bitter at all. I didn’t immediately think of pina coladas… but maybe I haven’t had many of them. There was definite pineapple flavor, coconut sweetness and nuttiness to it. It seems like it wouldn’t work but it does! It kind of reminds me of SpecialTeas Vienna Winter Green or California Tea House’s Pistachio gelato… just without the pistachio.

Yum. I’m totally digging the nutty teas. Thanks Alphakitty for this one. This is going on the must buy list for della terra. Perfect tea for after dinner.

Tealizzy

Is this one like toasted walnut from DavidsTea?

TastyBrew

I’m not sure. I haven’t had that one. This one is a little bit sweet and nutty. Reminded me a lot of the mulberry magic that I had last night, but this one has green tea in it.

Alphakitty

This is pretty similar to Toasted Walnut: I found that Walnut Brittle is more nutty while the coconut/pineapple is stronger in Forever Nuts.

What?!? I haven’t reviewed this yet? How terrible of me.

This is my second cup of this and it is amazingly delicious. It’s nutty, slightly sweet and a bit fruity. So much walnut flavour. This is a great any time tea. So in love with this one. Perhaps it may be my fav green tea.

I bought this as one of my summer teas and completely forgot about it until today. I will say this tea wasn’t exactly what I was expecting from something called walnut brittle. The coconut and pineapple make it almost tropical. While I do get a nutty flavor from this blend, I think it is actually coming from the hazelnut rather than the walnut. While this doesn’t end up reminding me of walnut brittle in the slightest, I did think it was an interesting blend.
