From DAVIDsTEA

The best gift under the tree is just waiting to be unwrapped. This full-bodied black tea is enveloped with rich notes of vanilla reminiscent of cooked custard. Wake up to this comforting blend filled with the excitement of what’s to come. Sounds like Christmas morning to us.

What makes it great:

This blend is made with real, hand pollinated vanilla for a stronger, natural flavour.

Rich & full-bodied, our black tea base highlights the creamy vanilla notes that linger on the tongue.

Drink it on its own or add a splash of milk for an even cozier drink best enjoyed on any chilly morning.

How it tastes: Comforting vanilla on a black tea base.

Black tea, Natural vanilla flavouring, White cornflower blossoms, Vanilla.

Backlog 1/21/24
(Catching up from Advent)

I drank this in the morning alongside my oatmeal yesterday. It was a good balance to the sweet Maple Nut cereal. I noted a sweet creamy vanilla bite with a marshmallow finish. It didn’t necessarily make me think of Christmas, but it was lovely, nonetheless.

Cheers and happy sipping!

Day 15 DAVIDs Tea Advent Calendar 2023

When I opened this one I wasn’t sure I would enjoy it. Turns out my nose deceived me and the blend is lovely. There is a marshmallow/vanilla creaminess that I enjoy. Wish this was a year round flavor. I would definitely serve this to guests. Sadly it’s no longer listed on the website, so I guess I’ll hope for it to come back next holiday season

Inkling Advent Day 25. This smelled so good in my steeper! It tastes like a black tea with creme, so I’m not sure what the name is for. It’s quite a pleasant one though! The creme flavor is pretty fake, but I still really like it. I don’t taste much else, but it’s good at what it does. I think it tastes best cold with milk. Thanks for an awesome end to a fun advent, Inkling!

This tea is like … perfectly acceptable and mid. It’s sweet, not tooth-achingly sweet or melted sprinkle sweet like DAVID’s Tea sometimes can be. It is not the finest vanilla tea blend, or the most developed or most delicate of teas, but it totally works. However, if you were expecting any other vanilla flavours, don’t, it’s just vanilla. I feel like this would be really nice as a latte, but I haven’t tried it that way yet.

This is like a perfectly acceptable vanilla ice cream flavour. It is not the super cheap ‘frozen vanilla dessert’ but neither is it the fanciest vanilla ice cream to ever exist. It’s okay! Would I go out of my way to buy it again? Probably not. Do I like it and enjoy it anyway? Yes. Would I recommend it? If you think you’ll like it, sure. Other reviews are much more glowing than mine, but it’s a solid tea.

Decent tea but nothing really special about it for me. Glad I tried it though, and although it was decent i have about 4 or 5 very similar ones one my shelf

Well, this is closer to what I hoped Vanilla Bean Black would taste. There’s that classic DT vanilla flavour here, though, which although a little nostalgic for me (really brings back memories of Vanilla Oolong), isn’t always my favourite. However, my recollection is that I tasted a licoricey flavour in VBB that I don’t taste here, which makes it significantly more appealing. Overall, I’m reasonably pleased with it but I think I’m still partial to 52teas vanilla blends.

A new tea from this year’s Winter/Holiday assortment!

I’m actually really excited that this tea is finally out because, despite the heavily seasonal name, I’ve been drinking this one for over a year now as just a go to blend whenever I want a really good, classic vanilla blend. It’s honestly a pretty simple tea – just a super brisk and full bodied “breakfast blend” style black tea with a really delicious and authentic rich vanilla. Highly aromatic with this great mix of almost mashmallow like light vanilla top notes with a rich and more dense vanilla finish.

It’s not really creamy/custardy the same way that a lot of DT’s vanilla blends tend to be and, while I do appreciate a good creamy vanilla, I’m so glad that we’ve got something now with that more complex true vanilla taste. Like, this is the type of flavour I would have expected to get from DT’s Vanilla Bean Black instead of the more coconut custard leaning taste I find is true for that tea. It feels so classic steeped up and honestly just works super well straight or with the additions of your choice – milk or latte format is pretty awesome.

Really, my only personal criticism is that because the name is so highly seasonal it means that I’ve gotta remember to pick up a larger bag of it now because we won’t have it year round and it’s become a year round tea for me…

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

I have high hopes for this one! Vanilla Bean Black was a disappointment for me, for sure, so your review makes me optimistic.

I have put this one on my list too—if we have any DT’s shops left in the city.
