Incredible as it seems, each of these pearls was hand-rolled. It’s a tradition that began over 1300 years ago, when a Chinese emperor wanted to give an original gift of love. Made from green tea scented with blooming jasmine flowers, they are perfect little gems. Rarely do I reach for such a simple tea (in fact, this wouldn’t even be in the cupboard if it wasn’t my boyfriend’s favourite), but having Chinese for dinner tonight really put me in the mood for a nice cup of jasmine.
This is a really nice tea. It’s sweet and floral. Flavourful without being overpowering. The smell of the jasmine is intoxicating from dry leaf to last sip. I’m beginning to wonder why I don’t drink this more—might have something to do with the hefty price tag.
