From Culinary Teas

Queen Mary is a perfect breakfast tea. Good body but not overpowering. Coppery bright and excellent flavor. A traditional favorite.

Following the example of many of my esteemed colleagues here, when one has a particularly challenging day ahead, one enlists the help of a Queen. Today’s challenge—traipsing up and down a three-story, two block long church campus with a troop of fourth graders. (Let Vacation Bible School begin!)

And thus, something strong and substantial and bracing was needed. I started to type “thick” but that wouldn’t be correct; this is still light enough for me to consider it a summer-appropriate tea.

Have you tried the other Queen, Catherine? If not, I can make a cup of that happen!

Her Majesty and I haven’t made acquaintances yet. :)

I thought for sure I tried this one long ago but it’s not registered here, yet, for me, so…here goes with more coming soon!

Thanks LiberTEAs!!!

This is a black tea I would enjoy any morning! You, see, I try and start every morning with at least 1 black tea and then go from there!

This is quite strong and I like it very much! It has a pleasing astringency to it, too!

As always, I drink this straight up! No additives…I see almost all who have enjoyed this drink with additions such as cream and/or sugar, but for me…the strength and stand alone is awesome for my morning brew! RAWK ON Queen Mary! RAWK ON!

Wow! This is one serious black tea! It has a very bold flavor and it is astringent. A great wake-me-up tea, especially if you’re having trouble shaking the sleepy!

I like!

When I’m drinking iced tea, the stronger, the better. I think this one would do well cold.

Not as assertive as I thought it might be, but still a good cup for breakfast! I thought I totally oversteeped this (left the infuser in for 6 minutes while answering some computer questions) but it’s fine. Apparently it can handle longer steeps than most breakfast teas that I have had! I’m not getting much malt, and it’s not super astringent (with milk and sugar, as I take all breakfast teas.) Not my favorite, but I wouldn’t turn it down!

This is a full-bodied tea. Though delightful on its own merit, it is just wonderful when milk and sugar is added. It is a great addition to any afternoon/evening. Whenever I take a sip, I feel at peace.

Holy Smokes, this will knock your slippers off. Billed as a breakfast tea, they weren’t kidding. I only brewed if for 3.5 minutes, instead of the recommemded 5 and it was super strong. One reviewer said it needed 7 to taste right. Definately a British style tea. In your face, no nuances. Good for those mornings when your brain is in a London fog.
