Green Tea- Peaceful Monkey Leader

Other names: Taiping Hokui, 太平猴魁

Origin: Huangshan, Anhui

Description: Production of Peaceful Monkey Leader green tea began in the beginning of the twentieth century in a small village called Hou Keng. In 2004 it won the “King of Tea” award at the China Tea exhibition. It is renowned for its “two knives and one pole,” referring to the two straight leaves clasping the bud with white hairs. This tea is oven-made, so the leaves are deep green in color with red veins underneath. This is a top tier tea, made from the bud and first leave of each tea plant, resulitng in a excellent quality tea.

How to brew: We recommend using glass-based or porcelain tea ware. Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water. Use about 2 grams of tea leaves (1-1.5 teaspoons) for every 150ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 70°c (158°F) to 80°c (176°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing. In order to maintain the original flavor of tea, we suggest not drawing the tea more than 3-4 times at most.
