A flagship garden for both its quality and consistency, Jungpana brings us this tea from original Chinese plants, sown in the late 1890s. Oxidized slightly more than other first harvest Darjeelings, an infusion of the leaves of this tea offer an ample and profound liquor with woody and spicy accents. Well balanced, it offers outstanding taste definition as well as a nice fruity muscat finish. A sheer delight!

Granville Island Tea CoBeen brewing this as a mostly afternoon tea. Took me a while to narrow in on the best brew pattern, Darjeeling is not my forte. The thing is, I wanted to not like this tea for that reason even without tasting it. Too much fuss, then one day my hubby wanted a pick me up and since he was the guinea pig I made it for him. He’s not a refined tea critic but he knows what he doesn’t like and this tea received an “OK” from him. Well if its good for the goose……it tasted “OK” for me too, so now I guess its time for expending effort and do my whole Mike the Martian thing and do a “waiting is” and “grok” this tea. I used the suggested brewing method and thought it too pale, so I added more tea and reduced the time and now it is fit to serve Jubal. Flavor is of sweetgrass and faint peach. It really shines with a hint of honey. Guess the lesson is get out of the comfort zone every once and a while and allow yourself some mystery.
Happily my new teapot set arrived from Camellia Sinensis, and my heart sank to find this 09 tea as the sample in the box. Of all the tea types, Darjeeling is one of my least favorite. So I approached it with some fear and trepidation. My familiar tea experiences are primarily with puerh tea. So naturally I’m far more comfortable with dirty, musty, moldy tea containing dried bugs, pods and pubic hairs. Really I am just not sure what to do with clean tea. Do I rinse it? Or is that sacrilegious?
Neon green in the cup. Tastes like sour corn. Guess I won’t be rating this.
What about that new teapot? Which one is it?
It’s Lin’s Ceramics. Still getting used to it. The spout really arcs the tea like a baby boy on a changing table.

Overall I like this tea, I like the tangerine/cashew tany/sweetness of it, but I also getting a feeling of this tea not being at its full potential.
That’s what I did recently. Arya Ruby fr Happy Earth tea is amazing. I was avoiding Darj FF for a long time
It’s a science unto it’s self. Too many variations to put my inexperienced tongue through, but there is retirement.
