From Butiki Teas

Our Nutmeg Dusted Custard is similar to our previous Nutmeg Cream tea. This tea pairs a wonderful cream flavor with spicy nutmeg and a black tea blend that has malt, chocolate, and citrus notes. With a touch of brown crystal sugar this tea becomes decadent with a rich cream flavor and burned sugar notes.

Ingredients: Lattakoojan Assam (Indian Black Tea), Dinjoye Estate Assam (Indian Black Tea), Khongea Encore Assam (Indian Black Tea), Organic Calendula, Organic Nutmeg, Organic Natural Flavors (vegan)

Recommended Brew Time: 2 minutes
Recommended Amount: 1 level teaspoon of tea for 8oz of water
Recommended Temperature: 212 F (boiling)

As I’m (sadly!) working on sipping down my Butiki collection, I’ve run across a few teas that I never got around to logging. This is one of them. While not my favorite Butiki selection, I find this to be a very cozy, comforting sort of tea for the fall and winter season. The base tea is front and center with the custard flavor adding a nice creaminess and that hint of nutmeg in the aftertaste warming everything up.

Backlog…I restrained myself and only used a teaspoon for my 12 oz mug, and stuck to a 2 minute steep time and it was light and creamy and not bitter or sour like the first time, or my times with it’s predecessor, Nutmeg Cream (version 2). You know, this makes me super happy. I got sad with the NC reblend, and I tried (or think I tried) all the suggestions and no dice. This time, the advice to ease up on leaf and steep time helped.

YAY!

I’ve got some time this afternoon to get stuff done, which will be lovely. First thing on the itinerary is tea.
Warm and complex, this is good. It really does have a creamy mouthfeel, and the sensation that nutmeg has been lovingly dusted over the top. Impressive.
